🎬 Save the date! 🎬

We are proud to be featuring the film "The Librarians", an award-winning documentary film by Kim Snyder, followed by a panel discussion.

Saturday, April 25 from 1:30pm to 4:00pm at The Bookshelf Cinema

📚 Admission is free but cash donations will be gratefully accepted
📚 Registration is not required, but come early – theatre capacity 130 people

From the film's website: "despite facing harassment, threats, and laws aimed at criminalizing their work – the librarians’ rallying cry for freedom to read is a chilling cautionary tale."

Following the screening, stay to find out from our panel if we face the same censorship concerns with our libraries, the following panelist will be speaking:

We are excited to present From Roots to Ritual: The Story of Sauna With Kivia Sauna’s Alan Jalasjaa, official sauna ambassador appointed by Sauna From Finland.

Alan Jalasjaa, a sauna expert and co-host of "Kivia: The Spirit of Sauna" podcast, has had a lifelong love affair with sauna. Introduced to sauna at a very young age following Finnish tradition, he earned the nickname “saunapoika” or “sauna-boy.” Born to a Canadian mother and Finnish father, Alan grew up in Southern Ontario, where sharing his Finnish culture with his Canadian friends was always a point of pride.

📍Come join us on Thursday March 26 from 7-8:30pm at the Main Library's 2nd floor program room.

Our Book Sale was a BIG Success! 🎉

A BIG thanks to all of you, we helped raise more than $114,000 👏😍

Over four days, with the support of more than 250 dedicated volunteers, this community came together to raise funds to support Guelph Public Library

Nearly 5,600 shoppers browsed and bought 62,500 items from a well-curated selection of more than 81,000 donated books, puzzles, DVDs and games for all ages. 👏

Over 400 shoppers completed the exit survey. Two winners have been selected to receive the gift coupons from Janus Books and Sweet Cheeses.

Thanks to all of you for taking the time to give us helpful suggestions for next year. For those of you who volunteered, we will be issuing our annual volunteer feedback survey soon.

We are very grateful for your faithful support of this well-loved community event. It makes all the difference between a good sale and a great sale! ❤️

We are working to share our sales figures and other statistics in the coming days with you all!

For now, it’s most important to say thank you to Bamco Woodworking and Kitchen Group - LEED Certified over 250 volunteers, the The City of Guelph, our generous parking neighbours, many donors, suppliers, and supporters, the staff Guelph Public Library and you! 👏❤️👏

Our annual book sale offers a fantastic opportunity for book lovers of all ages to explore a selection of over 75,000 gently-used books, games, puzzles, DVDs, and sheet music – all at unbeatable prices! 👏

Our early bird preview day is set for Thursday September 25 at 2pm - this has a $10 admission fee but our sale is free admission from Friday to Sunday.

We are located at 440 Elmira Road North in Guelph. Please check our website for full hours and our floor plan.🔎 https://fgpl.ca/

This year's prices remain quite affordable – adult hardcover books $4, large paperbacks $3, small paperbacks only $1. Children’s books, media, and special items will be individually priced.

If you can join us on Discount Sunday there will be even more deals for you! 👜

Paying for your purchases can be done with cash, debit or credit card. 💳

And Guelph’s Found Coffee will have coffee, iced tea and cookies available for purchase during the sale.☕🍪

Okay folks, good news! 🚗🚗

The City of Guelph has lifted the “no parking” restrictions that are posted on the signs on Massey Rd. for our sale days between September 25-28.

Parking will be permitted on both sides of Massey Rd., except near bus stops on those days.

Book Sale parking attendants will assist you locating a space.

👉 To get to the sale, please make sure you search: 440 Elmira Road North in Guelph, which is at the intersection with Massey Road. (we can't say this enough!) A Google search on Bamco will direct you to their new headquarters and you’ll discover we aren’t there! 😢

Car pooling is strongly recommended, as well as Guelph Transit Route 20-NW Industrial 🚍

Say hi to Janet everyone! 👋🏽

She’s been a longtime volunteer with us and its been a tradition that she makes a cake to celebrate our time together. 👩‍🍳

This year she recreated our tall book logo! 📚📚

We love counting here, and for this cake Janet used 2 lb butter and 18 eggs, plus a trip to a hardware store to figure out how to construct and support the teetering pile of books! She also shared her secret ingredients - sour cream and 1/2 cup of lemon juice. 🍋

We celebrate and say a BIG thank you to Janet and all our volunteers who have worked so hard to bring our sale to life. 💪

Our doors will open on Thursday September 25 at 2pm - 440 Elmira Rd North 🏃‍♀️ - are you planning to join us?
