Wishing all of our 9-1-1 Dispatchers and Communicators a wonderful week. You are the lifeline for many callers, and Responders. This recognition is well deserved.🚨

Always ready. Always alert. Our 911 Emergency Communications Centre operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. Behind every emergency call are our dedicated Communicators and Dispatchers, managing both 911 and non‑emergency lines while coordinating the rapid response of Police and Fire Services. Their vigilance is also essential in keeping our officers safe during fast‑moving, high‑risk situations.

📅 April 12–18, 2026 is National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week 📅

This week, we honour the incredible work of our 911 Dispatchers and Communicators - the calm, steady voice in moments of crisis and the vital link between those in need and the help on the way.

They make split‑second, life‑saving decisions under immense pressure. Their expertise, compassion, and composure form the backbone of public safety and are essential to every emergency response.

To our 911 Dispatchers and Communicators: thank you for your tireless dedication, your courage under pressure, and your unwavering commitment to keeping our community safe. You are the unsung heroes of public safety.

A gentle reminder for everyone.

This is from a call last night. Each pair of boots and shoes you see represents a dad, a mom, a brother or a sister, a grandparent, a son or daughter, an employee.

Each pair represents someone who drops everything at the drop of the tones to help.

Each pair represents a person who wants nothing more than the best for you and to make it home to their family after the call.

It is a person who risks everything, sometimes with little to no reward.

When you see lights and hear sirens, slow down and move over. Keep your heads up, your hands on the wheel, and your phones down.

Our lives depend on it.

As this year comes to a close, we would like to thank everyone for your incredible support, year after year. Our Club relies solely on donations to keep Ol' Betsy, our 1929 Gotfredson-Bickle Fire Engine, running. Many of you have seen, and shared, a recent post that we put on the Canadian Fire & EMS page looking for help to find a replacement radiator for Ol' Betsy. We have spent almost $8000 to date, trying to repair the original radiator, and it's no longer an option. We have had some feedback from the post and hope something positive comes of it soon. We'll post more info when we have it.
We would like to share some of our activities from 2025 with you. Our Open House, BBQ and Car Wash brought in $495.60, our partnership with the Lions Club earned us $1200.00 from the Duck Race and the French River Firefighter's donated half of the proceeds from their Dunk Tank event on Canada Day. They do this in exchange for the use of our Dunk Tank. The donation was $134.20. We also received a donation of $500 from the Ladies Auxiliary of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 179 for serving during the Capreol Senior Citizens Club Annual Christmas dinner, last December.
Capreol residents and visitors absolutely stepped up this year during our Annual Boot Drive for Muscular Dystrophy. In our 65th year of participating in this drive, the longest consecutive donation drive for MD in Canada, we provided a cheque to MD Canada in the amount of $8441.23. Absolutely incredible for a small town. Thank you so much for putting up with us at our Voluntary Tolls in September.
Again, thank you all for your support. Be safe and drive sober tonight as we celebrate the start of a New Year. We wish you all a happy and prosperous 2026.

We wish you all a very Merry Christmas. Please keep Fire Safety in mind when cooking your turkey today.

Our condolences goes out to his family, co-workers and friends.

This has been a difficult week at Ornge, as friends and colleagues across the organization mourn the loss of Poul-Erik Binderup, a fixed wing captain who died this week following a motor vehicle collision outside Thunder Bay. "P.E." was Ornge's most senior fixed wing pilot who joined the organization as the organization began its dedicated fixed wing service in 2009. At Ornge, he will be remembered for his warmth, kindness, and commitment to our mission.

P.E.'s family has shared details for his funeral service: https://www.blakefuneralchapel.com/obituaries/Poul-Erik-Binderup?obId=46507932
