We harvested what was left of the tomatoes before the frost last night, and a little bit of thyme!

please dont forget that this is a COMMUNITY food forest, you pitched in to help us plant it, so please help yourself to what grows! Just remember be kind to the plants, any herbs can be clipped but leave enough that the plant can still continue to thrive 🤍

Capreol, we asked and you showed up! THANK YOU for making our dig day such a success!! If you couldn’t make it out today, don’t worry! There will be more opportunities to learn and get involved, just keep an eye on our page!

A huge thank you to Sudbury Irish Arts - Comhaltas Ceoltóirí Éireann for the music and dance lessons that made the afternoon feel like we were in a fairytale, and Crusty's Pizza Capreol for fueling us so we could get through the day!

Tomorrow, Saturday June 14th, Is The Big Dig Day!!!!

Bring your hats, sunscreen & water bottles, and help us break ground on our new Capreol Community Food Forest, located right next to the Welcome to Capreol sign just off the highway!

See what we're all about, what you'll have access to, what we hope to accomplish, and enjoy a day of gardening, free food, music, and dancing!

The day starts at 11 AM as we break ground and get those edible perennials planted (tools provided), at 11:30 AM we'll have a story side for the kids, and then at 1 PM Sudbury Shared Harvest will provide lunch and the Sudbury Irish Arts Association will provide music and Ceili Dance lessons!

It's sure to be fun for the whole family!

We received some very exciting mail from Ontario Native Plants in preparation for our first DIG DAY next weekend!

In this shipment we recieved:

Butterfly Milkweed - Asclepias tuberosa
Canada Anemone - Anemone canadensis
Dense Blazing Star - Liatris spicata
Lanceleaf Coreopsis - Coreopsis lanceolata
Purple Coneflower - Echinacea purpurea
Smooth Blue Aster - Symphyotrichum laeve
Smooth Oxeye - Heliopsis helianthoides
Wild Bergamot - Monarda fistulosa
Wild Lupine - Lupinus perennis
Wild Strawberry - Fragaria virginiana

Come Learn More About Us at the 2nd Annual Grow Together Festival!

COME ONE, COME ALL!

Join us Saturday June 7th, from 11 AM to 4 PM at the Northern Ontario Railroad Museum and Heritage Centre in Capreol, in partnership with reThink Green, for the 2nd Annual Grow Together Festival!!!

This is a FREE event that promises fun for the whole family!

Want FREE transportation too? Board any GOVA bus between 10 AM and 5 PM and let the bus driver know that you are going to or coming from The Grow Together Festival in Capreol.

Have clothing and textiles you no longer want or need? We’re bringing back our Ditch, Switch, & Mend! Do you have some craft supplies you no longer need? We’ve added & Crafts! to the booth title!

Do you have a book or neat knick knack that takes up too much room on your shelves, or that no longer brings you joy? Come trade it for something at our Swap Stop!

Have a lot more than just a few things to get rid of? Sign up for Junk In Your Trunk! in our parking lot!

Don’t forget to bring your reusable water bottle, because the H2O To Go Water Buggy will be back this year as well!

Looking for something to do with the kids? Come do some Crafts, join in our Scavenger Hunt, get a Temporary Tattoo, Plant Seeds, try your hand at our Companion Planting Puzzle, or just get rid of some energy running around on our Locomotive Jungle Gym!

Missed out on learning how to Make Homemade Butter last year? Not a problem! Come join us to learn at the festival, and this year we’re making it even more fun by bringing in Maple The Cow from the Anderson Farm Museum Historical Society!

We’ll have presentations, prizes, vendors, and interactive activities from a variety of local businesses. You can even release some stress and tension with some Yoga and EFT provided by Metamorphosis and SoulShine Wellness Centre !
