WATER SAFETY STATEMENT

SNC has issued a Water Safety Statement for the South Nation River watershed due to elevated water levels, faster flows and up to 35 mm of additional rainfall forecast by Friday, October 16.

Conditions may be more noticeable in the headwaters of the South Nation River and along the North Branch near North Grenville and North Dundas.

⚠️ Stay safe:
- Stay away from rivers, streams and low-lying areas. Keep children and pets away from waterways.
- If you live in a flood-prone area, monitor conditions and take precautions to protect your property.

📅 This statement is in effect until October 20, 2026, at 5 p.m., or until an update is issued.

La CNS a émis une déclaration d'Eau dangereuse pour le bassin versant de la rivière Nation Sud en raison de niveaux d’eau élevés, de débits rapides et de jusqu’à 35 mm de précipitations supplémentaires prévues d’ici le vendredi 16 octobre.

Les conditions pourraient être plus marquées en amont de la rivière Nation Sud et le long du bras nord, près de North Grenville et de North Dundas.

We have a lot to be thankful for here at SNC🧡

From our passionate staff and volunteers to the beautiful places we help protect, there’s so much to appreciate. We’re especially grateful for the colourful fall leaves, beautiful waterways, and the people who make our communities so special.

Just a reminder that the SNC administrative office will be closed Monday, October 12 and will re-open Tuesday, October 13.

Totally Turtles at the Metcalfe Fair!

Our team had a great time at the Metcalfe Fair last weekend! We were excited to connect with youth and share some fun and educational information about our shelled friends! 🐢

It was a fantastic weekend filled with learning, conversations, and plenty of fun! Thanks to everyone who stopped by to visit us. We hope you had as much fun as we did!

It was a great opportunity to connect with the community, learn more about local forestry and wood products, and celebrate the important role our forests play in our region.

The Township of North Stormont is pleased to invite residents to Live Music in the Park, a special 50+ celebration of our local seniors — and everyone is welcome!

⏰ 1:00–2:30 p.m.
📍 McIntosh Memorial Park, 6 Cockburn Street, Berwick
🌦️ Weather permitting

Enjoy an afternoon of live music featuring Tammy McRae — Celtic & Oldies and Connor McLaughlin — Country/Folk in the beautiful fall setting of McIntosh Memorial Park.

🎵 This is a FREE event, courtesy of funding provided through the Province of Ontario's Seniors Community Grant.

This grant has already helped bring new programming to our community. Earlier this summer, it supported free Aquafitness classes and ongoing Pickleball in Crysler for participants aged 55+.
And there's more to come! Over the next few months, the Township will be offering:

🕺 Country line dancing
🎨 Arts & craft workshops
👩‍🍳 Introductory cooking courses
🛡️ Fraud awareness sessions
⛑️ First-Aid Course

🦋 Monarchs on the move!

We spotted these beautiful monarchs at SNC’s Charleville property in Augusta as they make their way south for their fall migration. 🌿

Every fall, monarchs begin their incredible journey to their overwintering grounds in central Mexico, stopping along the way to fuel up on nectar from flowers.

We’re always excited to spot these special visitors on our properties! 🧡
