Have a beautiful and bountiful Thanksgiving!

Along with the fall decor, which was donated by the Hillsburgh Garden Club, are some little treasures amongst the hay and in the garden beds at the Wellington County Library Hillsburgh Branch. The rocks were painted by attendees at the Over Here Community Arts Adventure Art by the Pond event that was held a few weeks ago.

Today, we celebrated Connie Bienia, who is stepping down as HGC President after 10 years of amazing leadership and service. We wish her the very best and know she will continue to be involved in gardening and children’s activities. Thank you Connie Bienia for all you have done to help the Hillsburgh Garden Club thrive and grow.

A good article on 6 ways to dry hydrangea blooms.

September lines three things up at once: the blooms have dried down enough to hold their shape, the heat that bleaches color has passed, and the plant is heading into dormancy anyway, so cutting costs it nothing. Miss this stretch and the same stems either fade to tan on the bush or crumble in your hands. Here are the 6 methods worth using now.

Happy Fall Equinox!

HGC will participate in the ARTS by the Pond event hosted by Over Here Community Arts Adventure on Sept. 19 from 12-5pm at the Wellington County Library Hillsburgh Branch. We will be offering an all ages Rock Painting activity.

The painted rocks will be displayed in the library gardens! Our goal is to contribute to a Community Art collaboration project which will be displayed in the Hillsburgh Library Gardens.

We hope to see you there!

It’s that time of year again!

THEY ARE BACK!!
FALL DECORATING KITS! The Hillsburgh Community Committee’s largest fundraiser of the year. We are limited to 100 orders and we have sold out the last several years. Still only $50.00.

A super value if you price these items out anywhere else!! The best part is 100% of the proceeds goes back into the Hillsburgh community.

All the details in the poster below. PLEASE DO NOT order if you are unavailable to pick it up on Saturday morning September 19th. Our volunteers having to hold it and double move your order then arrange a time to meet you if you do not pick it up is a real pain 😉.

If you are ordering via Facebook, your order will only be deemed complete if you provide your telephone number with the Facebook order in a DM to us. This is from experience due to each year we need to phone approximately 1/3 of the people that order to remind them to come and pick it up Saturday morning! 😀
Cash or check only payable on the pick up morning at the Graham Animal Hospital’s parking lot. Thanks!!!

A shout out and huge thank you to Chris Bailey at Brighten Up for donating these lovely, foldable shelving units to HGC. They will provide us with great display opportunities at future events, etc.

Harvest those Fall flowers and veggies! Get creative with an Autumnal floral arrangement in a basket or a pumpkin! Then show them off at HGC’s first post-Summer member meeting and Flower Show on September 9th. Meeting details have been sent to members via email. Flower show classes can be found in the HGC Member Yearbook.
