Did you know... It costs approximately $65 to provide a regular food hamper for just ONE person! 🥫

With around 160 households of various sizes collecting monthly, the cost of providing food adds up quickly. While food donations are incredibly valuable and help supplement our supplies, financial donations allow us to purchase fresh, nutritious foods and other essentials to help meet the needs of our clients.

Every dollar makes a difference! Your generosity helps us keep our shelves stocked and continue supporting individuals and families in our community. ❤️

🥫HUNGERCOUNT 2026: THE REALITY OF FOOD INSECURITY IN BC 🍽️

Food insecurity continues to affect individuals and families across British Columbia, including right here in Enderby and the surrounding district.

The newly released 2026 Hunger Count report from Food Banks Canada highlights just how much pressure households are facing.

📊 Here are some of the key findings:

Canada: Food banks recorded approximately 2.35 million visits in March 2026, an increase of 117% since 2019. This is the highest number ever recorded by Food Banks Canada.

British Columbia: Food banks recorded 250,505 visits in March 2026, an increase of 14% from the previous year and more than double the number recorded in 2019.

Children: More than 75,700 of BC’s monthly food bank visits involved children.

🏡 Housing and affordability: Across Canada, 72% of food bank clients live in market-rent housing, and rising costs continue to force difficult choices between groceries, rent, utilities and other basic needs.

📍Right here in Enderby: Feed Enderby & District Food Bank currently serves an an average of 170 households monthly. Our numbers are increasing every month.

Behind every number is a person, a family, or a child who deserves access to nutritious food without having to choose between their basic needs.

These statistics remind us that food insecurity is not just about food. It is closely connected to the cost of living, housing affordability, and the ability to make ends meet.

Did you know you can donate the proceeds from your bottle depot returns directly to FED?

It’s easy! When you visit the Enderby Bottle Depot, simply ask at the till to put your refund on our donation account. Every bottle and can counts, and 100% of your donated proceeds go directly to supporting our local food bank! 💚

How it works:

+ Ask at the till to donate your refund to Feed Enderby and District Food Bank.

🥩 MEAT DRAW & FOOD BANK DONATIONS! 🥫

Join us at the Enderby Legion on Saturday, October 24th, from 2:30-5pm for the Meat Draw!

FED is proud to be involved as Volunteers for this event. We’re looking forward to seeing our wonderful community come together once again for an afternoon of fun-while supporting a great local cause!
