Happy Easter from all of us at Partners in Ethiopia 🌷🐣

We are deeply grateful for your continued support, generosity, and kindness. Because of you, many children in Agarfa, Ethiopia now have the opportunity to attend school and experience the joy of learning alongside others their age.

Mothers and newborns are also safer today, thanks to the dedicated services provided at the new maternal care centre facility in Agarfa. All of this is possible because of your ongoing support.

Your compassion is changing lives and building brighter futures.

Wishing you and your loved ones a joyf
ul and blessed Easter filled with hope and renewal. πŸ’›βœ¨

With heartfelt thanks,
Partners in Ethiopia Team

We continue to be thrilled with the ongoing support of Rotary Club Salmon Arm for our education projects - school uniforms, text books and school supplies. Here is a pic from back in December of PIE co-founder Woinshet (and Rotary member herself) receiving a cheque from the Salmon Arm Rotary Club's President Darcy for our share of the proceeds from the Ethiopian Dinner fundraiser in Oct. Thanks to all who attended, donated and volunteered to make the event so successful!

This week, our member Woinshet Bayssie gave us presentation with lots of information about her long-time involvement in Partners in Ethiopia. The emphasis was on the project to encourage education of children - funding for them to get uniform clothing, and large quantities of books distributed to schools. Rotary as funded these projects for many years. Woinshet was recently involved with an event put on by Rotary to raise more funds (Ethiopian Dinner), and President Darcy was able to hand her a cheque for those funds. Partners in Ethiopia

Education Matters!
We are proud to announce that Partners in Ethiopia (PIE) and Vision for Bright Future (VBF) have awarded scholarships to three undergraduate students in Ethiopia. This support will cover their essential expenses, enabling them to focus fully on their studies and pursue their dreams without financial barriers.

At PIE & VBF, we believe education is the key to unlocking potential and creating lasting impact in communities. By investing in these students, we are investing in the future leaders of Ethiopia.

Congratulations to the scholarship recipients: Semira Adem Ahmed, Yonas Tibebu Wondimu and Solomoon Derese Girma!! We look forward to seeing the incredible contributions you will make in the years ahead.

Above all we thank our donors who have allowed us to create these scholarships. Special thanks to Rose Charities Canada and Rotary Club Salmon Arm for their ongoing funding.

Partners in Ethiopia, with on the ground support of the volunteers of Vision for Bright Future in Agarfa, continues to support education and gender equity initiatives to enable teachers, school & government officials and care givers to better the lives of their students.

In the 2025/26 school year, we have supported:
πŸ“Œ 220 students received essential educational materials such as uniform, exercise books, pen, pencils, and eraser.
πŸ“Œ 110 adolescent girls were provided with sanitary pads to ensure uninterrupted learning for girls.

We are thankful for the admin & financial support of Rose Charities Canada, our independent donors, and the ongoing financial support of Rotary Club Salmon Arm, Shuswap Rotary Club and Kelowna Okanagan Mission Rotary clubs.

Our heartfelt appreciation goes out to all the organizations and individuals who contributed in various ways to the success of the Ethiopian Fundraising Dinner held earlier this month.

The Rotary Club of Salmon Arm ( Rotary Club Salmon Arm / salmonarmrotary.org ) partnered with us for this event, offering leadership, support, and expertise from the planning stages through to the final clean-up. We extend special thanks to the Rotary team β€” Darcy, Sarah, Marvel, and Jim β€” whose dedication and teamwork helped ensure the evening’s success.

Thank you to Mike, our MC; Gail, our auctioneer; Fiona and June, who managed the bar; Maureen, who handled 50/50 sales; and the many others who assisted with both the live and silent auctions.

Our kitchen crew β€” cooks, bakers, and dishwashers Naomi, Mary, Loris, Margo, Rachel, Darcy, Anna, and Trevor β€” did an amazing job from start to finish.

Guests enjoyed an evening filled with authentic Ethiopian cuisine, music, and even dance lessons.

We are grateful to all the individuals and businesses who donated items for the auctions. Your generosity, along with the enthusiastic bidding, created an evening full of energy, entertainment, and fundraising success. Special thanks as well to Soapolallie Soapworks (soapw.com) and the Piccadilly Mall Lotto Booth for assisting with ticket sales.

The remaining food was distributed the following day to 36 individuals across Salmon Arm, Vernon, and Enderby. Our sincere appreciation to Darcy, Chris, Naomi, Woinshet, and Keith for their extra efforts in reaching out to those in need within our local communities.

Finally, thank you to everyone who has supported, or partnered with us here in the North Okanagan. Your continued involvement helps our group make a real difference for children and families in Ethiopia.

Woinshet has started fermenting the tef for the injera for this Saturday's fundraising dinner in Salmon Arm. It takes days for Woinshet's team of chefs to properly prepare Ethiopian food in the traditional ways of the Oromia region that Partners in Ethiopia's founder and Rotary Club Salmon Arm member Woinshet Bayssie learned growing up in Agarfa, Ethiopia.

We could use your help in filling a few more seats to make this event the success it deserves to be.

Tickets for this fundraising event are $80 per person. Full event & menu details, online and paper ticket info at:

Paper tickets (cash only) are available at:
