Did you know your ORV registration fees help fund trail improvements & initiatives across BC?

Every off-road vehicle registration dollar is put into the ORV Trail Fund. Through this fund, the registration dollars are reinvested into projects that improve trail safety, maintain public recreation infrastructure, support volunteer-run clubs, and enhance access to outdoor recreation opportunities throughout the province.

It’s a great example of recreation users directly contributing to responsible recreation and stewardship. So place that license plate sticker proudly on your machine, especially knowing that the money goes right back to the sport you love!

EXCITING NEWS! We are thrilled to have been awarded funding through the 2026 Off-Road Vehicle (ORV) Trail Fund.
The ORV Trail Fund is replenished annually through off-road vehicle registration fees collected in BC. The funds collected are reinvested directly into off road vehicle trails. Rec Sites & Trails BC manages the distribution of funds, ensuring funding decisions meet policy, scoring results and match the available total budget.

The grant dollars we were awarded will be going towards replacing the roofing on the Main Chalet, our largest and most used warming shelter. The current roofing is aged with the tin lifting in sections, so completing this much needed upgrade ensures we are performing infrastructure maintenance before it becomes problematic.

Thank you to Recreation Sites and Trails BC for helping us complete this project. We would also like to thank Four Wheel Drive Association of BC for providing us with a letter of support for this project. Collaboration of user groups is a key component to grant funding success, and for the future of outdoor recreation.
Your Main Chalet will be getting yet another facelift and we can’t wait to get this project underway!

At the Outdoor Recreation Council of BC Conference last week, we learnt about the provinces new “Look West: BC’s Outdoor Recreation Strategy”. While it’s a step in the right direction, it does still lack the main component of additional funding that all of us non-profit recreation groups desperately need. The plan is great in theory, but without new grant funding streams, the model still places a heavy weight on our volunteers and already tapped $ resources.

Some insight shared from the Outdoor Recreation Council of BC:
“B.C.’s new Outdoor Recreation Strategy feels like an important step forward for outdoor recreation in British Columbia.

For the first time, outdoor recreation is being formally recognized as its own sector.

There is still a lot of work ahead, especially around long-term investment in expanding and maintaining recreation opportunities, and stronger support for recreation organizations and volunteers, but this feels like real progress for the sector.”
