The ELNOS Board of Directors will have one position available for the upcoming year starting in November. Eligible candidates are encouraged to apply by August September 10th , 2026.

Eligibility:

Applicants must reside in, be employed in, conduct business from, or in, the ELNOS Region and meet the following criteria:

1. community knowledge and leadership experience with a sound understanding of business;
2. capable of taking an independent regional perspective;
3. secure in profession, business or occupation; and
4. able to invest the required time and effort to perform their responsibilities as Directors. Regular meetings are held on the 4th Tuesday of each month.

Environment Canada has issued a yellow level warning for a heat event in Elliot Lake, with hot conditions beginning today and ending either Wednesday or Thursday evening. The City of Elliot Lake will be opening the Public Library as a place to stay cool while the heat event is in effect.

The City of Elliot Lake Public Library at 45 Hillside Drive South is open from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m Monday to Friday and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday. Closed on Sundays. There is no food or drink allowed in the library, however there is a water fountain available. There is public transit available to this location.

Other places to cool down in Elliot Lake include:
- The Splash Pad at Kiwanis Park (Open 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. every day)
- Spruce Beach (lifeguards on duty 12 p.m. to 7 p.m.)
- Spine Beach (lifeguards on duty 12 p.m. to 7 p.m.)

Public water fountains are also available at Kiwanis Park, Spruce Beach and Spine Beach. Residents are encouraged to stay hydrated, avoid prolonged exposure to the heat, and check in on vulnerable family members or neighbours.

Never leave children, vulnerable adults or pets inside a parked vehicle for any amount of time. Call 911 or your emergency health care provider if you, or someone around you, is showing signs of heat stroke which can include red and hot skin, dizziness, nausea, confusion and change in consciousness.
