What an incredible 2026 summer on the Bow River. ❤️ This Saturday is our FINAL EcoFloat day of the season, before our school programs start up.

We’d love to finish summer on the river with you!

🏞️ Float the beautiful Bow River through South Calgary and Fish Creek Provincial Park

🌅 5:00 PM Sunset Float — our final float of 2026!

A massive THANK YOU to Edmonton Fire Rescue Services edmontonpoliceservice City of Edmonton rangers for saying hello during our Sunday EcoFloat on the river yesterday!

It was great to connect with some familiar faces out on the North Saskatchewan River — and even better knowing these incredible teams are out there helping keep everyone on and around our river safe.

HEADING OUT ON THE RIVER? BE RIVER READY!

Before you launch, always check current weather conditions, safety advisories, and river levels and flows. Conditions on the North Saskatchewan River can change quickly, so being prepared matters.

City of Edmonton also reminds all river users to make sure they have the proper safety equipment onboard:

🦺 An approved lifejacket/PFD for every person — and WEAR IT - It’s the law.

🪢 Buoyant heaving line or throw bag at least 15 metres long

🪣 Bailer or bilge pump

📣 Whistle or other sounding device

🔦 Waterproof flashlight for night or low-light conditions

🛶 Paddle/oars, or an anchor with at least 15 metres of cable, rope or chain

And remember: tell someone where you’re going, know your route and take-out location, and never underestimate the power of the river.

A huge thank you again to our Edmonton Fire Rescue, Edmonton Police Service and Edmonton Park Rangers and all first responders for the work you do to Edmonton’s river safe.

Be prepared. Wear your PFD. Know the conditions. Respect the river. 🌊💙
