Revitaled Reintegration Services Improving health and community safety outcomes for all through Afrocentric principles

Revitaled Reintegration Services is a small not-for-profit organization that aims to provide support programs and services to help individuals exiting provincial and federal correctional institutions to successfully reintegrate back into society. Revitaled prioritizes enhancing community safety outcomes for communities, and we acknowledge that the back-to-school season can bring new routines, new connections, and new challenges.

As routines begin, consider these steps:
✏️ Connect early with teachers, guidance staff, and trusted school contacts
✏️ Review emergency contacts and after-school expectations
✏️ Encourage open conversations about safety, boundaries, and asking for help
✏️ Ask about culturally responsive supports, affinity spaces, and resources in and out of school environments
✏️Remind young people that support is always available, and celebrate their identity, strengths, and voice every step of the way

Wishing students, families, and educators a safe, supported, and successful school year.

⚖️ FAQ: What is legal literacy?

Legal literacy is having a basic understanding of your legal rights, responsibilities, and the systems that may affect you.

It can help people ask informed questions, recognize when they may need support, and feel more confident navigating everyday legal situations.

At Revitaled, we believe accessible information is an important part of empowerment and informed decision-making. Tools like LawLantis help to understand how the justice system works, and where you can go to get information on how the system works.

August is Emancipation Month, and Revitaled honours the resilience, leadership, and lasting contributions of Black communities.

Emancipation reminds us that freedom is not only a historic milestone. It is an ongoing commitment to dismantling barriers and expanding opportunity. At Revitaled, that commitment guides our work: creating the conditions for people and communities to thrive, with equity, dignity, and inclusion at the centre.

We will continue listening, learning, and taking meaningful action toward a more just future.

Yesterday, Revitaled turned 5! 🥳

To close out our celebrations, we’re looking back on some of our biggest moments since launching in 2021.

We’re wrapping up our trip down memory lane with our biggest moment to date.
Earlier this year, we launched LawLantis: an online youth legal literacy game.
With hundreds of players (both independently and within partner programs), this game has proven to be an engaging tool for youth to build knowledge about the Ontario youth justice system.

Check out LawLantis at the link below👇🏾

To celebrate, we’re looking back on some of our biggest moments since launching in 2021.

A big milestone of ours was Your Story Matters, our comic book program that gave black youth in Durham the opportunity to tell their stories through art. Through several workshop sessions, participants discovered the art of storytelling, building their confidence and creating a published comic that reflects their voices and experiences.

“I joined Your Story Matters without really knowing what to expect, but it ended up being a really creative and welcoming experience. It gave me the chance to turn ideas into something I was proud of and reminded me that everyone has a different perspective. Seeing our finished comic made all the work feel worth it, and I’m glad I was given the chance to be a part of it.” - Your Story Matters Participant, 2021

Have you heard about our Legal Education and Reintegration (LEARN) Hub?
As one of our most highly used resources, our LEARN Hub is an online resource center that provides information to help people navigate the justice system with ease.

The Hub includes easy-to-understand multimedia resources on 4 key topics: Navigating the legal system, record suspensions, mental health, and family support.

Our Hub is available on our website for free! 👉🏽 https://revitaled.ca/learn-hub/

Next month, Revitaled turns 5! 🥳

To celebrate, we’re looking back on some of our biggest moments since launching in 2021.
Sponsored by the Municipality of Clarington, Connected Communities was a dynamic holistic wellness series centered on supporting survivors of intimate partner violence. Led by counsellors and lived-experienced experts, Connected Communities aimed to help participants begin the journey towards healing by increasing feelings of confidence, autonomy over decisions, awareness of available local support, and ultimately, connection with their community.

With nearly 200 online participants at the time of launch, Connected Communities continues to be a staple resource for Revitaled, reminding us of the importance of wellness, education, and community connection.

Next month, Revitaled turns 5! 🥳

To celebrate, we’re looking back on some of our biggest moments since launching in 2021.

To start, we’re looking back on our 2021 Access the Holidays outreach drive. Access the Holidays was a Tim Hortons-sponsored food and clothing drive aimed at reducing financial barriers that often arise during the holiday season. Despite launching that August, we supported over 100 low-income individuals and families just 4 months later in December!

Today, Revitaled is celebrating National Indigenous Peoples Day by honouring the histories of Inuit, Metis, and First Nations Peoples.

National Indigenous Peoples Day is an opportunity to acknowledge the strength and resilience of Indigenous communities as well as acknowledge the systemic barriers and lasting impacts of colonialism, which continue to impact many Indigenous Peoples today.

As an organization committed to educating and supporting individuals and youth facing systemic barriers, we recognize that Indigenous communities still experience the lasting impacts of colonialism and gaps in access and opportunities.

As Revitaled celebrates Indigenous achievements, we maintain our commitment to helping build communities where everyone has a chance to thrive.
