Myeloma Canada - National Page Myeloma Canada is a non-profit organization created by, and for, people living with multiple myeloma.

One of the challenges facing the myeloma patient community is the general lack of awareness of this relatively rare cancer. Consequently, many patients are not well-informed about the resources that are available to them and often feel alone in their battle. To address this concern, Myeloma Canada, a non-profit entity with charitable organization status, was created in 2005 by and for people living with multiple myeloma to:

- Provide educational resources and emotional support to patients, families and caregivers
- Increase awareness of the disease and its effects on the lives of patients and families
- Promote clinical research and access to new drug trials in Canada and
- Facilitate access to new therapies, treatment options and health care resources

As a patient-driven, patient-focused organization, Myeloma Canada works with over a dozen local support groups across Canada, strengthening the voice of the Canadian myeloma community and improving the quality of life of myeloma patients, their caregivers and families. Myeloma Canada is the only national organization that is uniquely devoted to the Canadian myeloma community. Our affiliation with the International Myeloma Foundation (IMF), the world’s oldest and largest myeloma patient organization, enables access to a global network of expertise and resources.

Behind every Multiple Myeloma March is a group of volunteers who make the day happen.

They set up the tables, welcomed participants at registration, handed out snacks, marked the routes, and cheered on Marchers along the way. Many of them gave up their weekends to do it, and every March across Canada depends on their time and energy.

Not every community has a Multiple Myeloma March, but that did not stop people from marching anyway.

Across Canada, people who live far from an organized March chose to walk on their own, whether in their neighbourhoods, on local trails, or alongside family and friends. They raised funds, spread the word, and showed that you do not need a crowd to make a difference.

To everyone who marched virtually this year: thank you. Your commitment to the myeloma community is felt well beyond your own street.

A huge thank you to Omer, who ran his very first marathon at The County Marathon in Prince Edward County this October in support of Myeloma Canada!

Before training, Omer’s longest run was just under 10 km. By race day, he had worked his way up to 32 km training runs. That is an incredible achievement, and he did it all while raising funds for the myeloma community.

Thank you, Omer, for your dedication, your hard work, and for choosing to support patients and families affected by multiple myeloma. We are so grateful.
