Seniors moving to the music at Sucrerie de la montagne!

On a beautiful, sunny day at the end of March, the Voyageurs headed to Sucrerie de la montagne in Rigaud. This cabane à sucre still operates in the traditional way. We were met in the parking lot by a horse-drawn wagon to take us to the entrance. We learned about the history of this 40+ year-old establishment and the maple syrup-making process from the son of the founder. Then we headed inside for a delicious sugar shack meal accompanied by some lively music.

On February 24, a small group of Voyageurs were treated to a tour of the permanent collection of the Musée des beaux-arts, guided by club secretary, Barbara, who is also a volunteer guide at the museum. We traveled by STM bus and metro and afterwards enjoyed lunch at the Maison Alcan.

Le 24 février un petit groupe de Voyageurs ont visité le Musée des beaux-arts pour une tour de la collection permanente offert par notre secrétaire, Barbara, une guide bénévole au musée. Nous avons voyagé par autobus STM et en métro et suite à notre visite, nous avons dîné à la Maison Alcan.

Eighty-five club members recently attended our annual New Year’s Luncheon, catered by Scores Dorval. The food was delicious! Members donated non-perishable food items as well as $575 in cash to Dorval Community Aid. Many door prizes, including one free day trip, were won.

Many thanks to Kosta from Scores for the delicious meal and great service.

Quatre-vingts-cinq membres du club étaient présents récemment pour notre Dîner annuel du nouvel an, traité par Scores Dorval. Le repas était délicieux! Les membres ont contribué des denrées non-périssable et 575$ à l’Aide communautaire de Dorval. Il y avait beaucoup de prix de présence, incluant un voyage d’une journée, à gagner.

Un grand merci à Kosta de Scores pour le repas délicieux et l’excellent service.

On October 29, 43 members of the Voyageurs enjoyed a trip into the historical industrial district of Montreal. There we visited Espace Verre, a glass-blowing school and boutique, housed in a former fire station and Les Forges de Montréal, a metal-working school located in a former municipal pumping station. In between visits, we enjoyed a delicious brunch buffet at the Burgundy Lion Pub.

On September 10, members of the. Voyageurs traveled to Omega Park near Montebello. This park features animals native to North America. After viewing the animals from a special bus, we departed for Stephanie’ Restaurant in Hawkesbury where we ate a delicious lunch. We were blessed with beautiful weather and a fun day was had by all!

On August 6, we traveled to the Dunham area in the Eastern Townships. We first visited a vineyard, Vignoble de l’Orpailleur, where we got to sample 4 different wines. We then ate lunch at La Bodega in Dunham. After lunch we visited an unusual 12-sided barn (the only one in Quebec) and a covered bridge built in 1884 and still in use today.

Jazz Festival 2025

The Voyageurs have been on the move this summer. On June 30, a few of us traveled together by city bus downtown to take in the Jazz Festival.

On July 9, Voyageurs traveled to the delightful town of Merrickville, Ontario. Some took a guided tour of this picturesque town on the Rideau River and Rideau Canal. Others explored the many shops.

On August 6, we traveled to Dunham in the Eastern Townships. We visited a vineyard where we had a guided tour and a tasting of some great wines. We lunched at La Bodega, a Spanish restaurant and then saw a 12-sided barn and a covered bridge.
