Food recovery is about more than rescuing surplus food. It’s about creating smarter solutions that reduce waste, strengthen communities, and make sure nutritious food reaches the people who need it most.

Thank you to Coquitlam City Councillor Steve Kim for recognizing Food Link Society’s innovative approach to food security and for supporting the work of our volunteers, partners, and community.
Together, we’re proving that good food belongs on people’s tables, not in landfills.

What if the biggest challenge isn't producing more food... but getting it to the right place?
Every day, perfectly good food is at risk of going to waste while families across our communities continue to experience food insecurity.
For the past 10 years, Food Link Society has been building a practical solution by rescuing surplus food and connecting it with the people who need it most.
Because food recovery isn't just about reducing waste.
It's about strengthening communities, protecting the environment, and making sure good food reaches people, not landfills.
💚 We're just getting started. Stay tuned to discover how you can help us rescue more food, reach more families, and be part of this growing mission.

Ten years ago, Food Link Society began with one school, one grocery store, and just 25 families.
Today, thanks to the dedication of volunteers, partners, and our community, that vision has grown into something much bigger.

What if perfectly good food never had to go to waste? 💚
That's the mission behind Food Link Society.
In this Community Voices message, Matthew Sebastiani highlights the importance of rescuing surplus food before it goes to waste and making sure it reaches people and families who need it most.
Every rescued meal represents more than food.
It represents dignity, opportunity, and the power of a community that chooses to care for one another.

Thank you, Matthew, for recognizing the impact of food recovery and for supporting Food Link's mission.
Together, we can rescue more food, reduce waste, and build stronger communities.

Food waste is about more than what's left on a plate.
Every day in Canada:
🍎 Nearly 46% of all food produced is lost or wasted.
🌍 Food waste generates 154,000 tonnes of greenhouse gas emissions.
💚 Meanwhile, 8.7 million Canadians experience food insecurity.
These aren't just numbers.
They're a reminder that food waste and hunger are connected.
At Food Link Society, we believe perfectly good food should nourish people, not landfills.
Every rescued meal helps reduce waste, strengthen communities, and bring hope to someone who needs it.
Together, we can create a future where good food reaches people, not garbage bins.

Every week, thousands of families across Metro Vancouver rely on Food Link's food recovery network.
As a BC Paramedic and community member, AJ Stewart sees the importance of caring for one another. That's why he's encouraging more people to learn about Food Link's mission and get involved.
Every rescued meal means less food waste and more support for families, newcomers, seniors, and neighbours facing food insecurity.
Thank you, AJ, for helping share our mission and reminding us that stronger communities are built when people come together.

Happy BC Day from all of us at Food Link Society! 💚
British Columbia is more than the places we call home. It’s the people who show up for one another.
Every volunteer who gives their time.
Every food partner who chooses to donate surplus food.
Every supporter who believes that good food belongs on tables, not in landfills.
Together, we’re helping build healthier communities, reducing food waste, and making fresh, nutritious food more accessible to families across Metro Vancouver.
As we celebrate BC Day, we’re grateful to be part of a province where compassion, collaboration, and community continue to make a real difference.
Thank you, British Columbia.
Here’s to building an even stronger future together 💚!!

July was filled with meaningful moments, new connections, and community impact. 💚
This month, we rescued more surplus food, celebrated Canada Day with our community, welcomed partners and supporters, shared our mission through new conversations, and continued working toward a future where good food reaches people, not landfills.
None of this would be possible without our volunteers, food partners, donors, and supporters.
Thank you for being part of another incredible month.
Here's to an even bigger August! 🍎🌱

"When they came into City Council about 10 years ago to share their vision with us, I was impressed."
Those are the words of Teri Towner, Coquitlam City Councillor, who has witnessed Food Link Society's journey from the very beginning.
What started with a vision to rescue good food and support families has grown into a movement serving communities across Metro Vancouver.
Today, Food Link continues to prove that one idea, powered by dedicated volunteers, community partners, and supporters, can create lasting change.
Thank you, Councillor Teri Towner, for your continued encouragement and for believing in our mission from the very start. 💚
If you'd like to be part of our next chapter, we'd love to have you with us.
