Making a difference starts with showing up. ❤️

We were delighted to welcome Judy Howard to Food Link Society's Vanier Centre!

Representing the Howard Foundation, connected to Woodbridge Homes, Judy didn't just come to learn about our work.
She rolled up her sleeves, joined our volunteers, and helped distribute food to families in our community.

Her visit is a wonderful reminder that community support goes beyond financial contributions. It's about being present, connecting with people, and taking action where it matters.

At Food Link Society, every act of kindness helps strengthen the network of people working to reduce food insecurity across Metro Vancouver.

Some families spend time together. This one gives back together. ❤️

For the past two years, Chris Kwan, a leader at Westwood Alliance Church, has been volunteering with Food Link Society alongside her husband, Tim Ip, and their daughter, Rhoda Ip.

Together, they've shared their time, kindness, and dedication to help support our community.

Their story reminds us that giving back is even more meaningful when it's something we share.

“It’s like Christmas.” ❤️

That's how one person describes receiving a box of rescued food.

In this heartfelt story, Nisha, a dedicated Food Link Society volunteer, shares what it means to deliver food to someone who isn't physically able to pick it up herself.

For the person receiving that box, it's more than groceries. It's a moment of joy, relief and knowing that someone cares.

And behind every delivery, there's a network of volunteers, donors and supporters making it possible.

What if a child struggling at school wasn't facing a behaviour problem, but hunger?

During an interview with Parvaz TV Canada تلویزیون پرواز Igor Bjelac from Food Link Society shared a powerful story about a young boy whose family was experiencing food insecurity.

Without enough nutritious food, his ability to focus and succeed at school was affected.

But when his family began receiving food support, things started to change. He was able to return to school and continue learning.

Because food security isn't just about having something to eat. It's about health, stability, dignity and opportunity.

As Igor reminds us, "these children are the future of Canada." ❤️

This Thanksgiving, we're grateful for every meal shared, every helping hand and every act of kindness. 🍂**

But we're also thinking of the families in our communities who face food insecurity, even during a holiday centred around food and togetherness.

For 10 years, Food Link Society has been connecting rescued food with people who need it, thanks to an incredible community of volunteers, donors and supporters.

This Thanksgiving, we want to say "thank you" to everyone who makes that possible.

The food is donated. But the journey isn’t free.
Every box of rescued food has a journey before it reaches someone who needs it.
Behind that journey are trucks, fuel, refrigeration, volunteers and logistics that make food rescue possible.
As Ali Haeri from Food Link Society explains, food donations are only part of the solution.
We’re raising funds for another truck, so we can rescue more food and reach more communities across Metro Vancouver.
