🌎 Today is World Environment Day!!

Every rescued meal creates two impacts:
🍎 It helps feed people.
🌱 It helps reduce food waste.

At Food Link, environmental action happens one meal at a time.
Together, we’re keeping good food out of landfills and putting it where it belongs: on people’s tables.

Real community impact doesn’t happen alone ❤️
Behind every rescued meal, every volunteer shift, and every food distribution, there’s a network of people, organizations, local businesses, donors, and community partners helping make the work possible.

Together, these collaborations helped Food Link Society rescue and redistribute over 2.5 million lbs of food, provide nearly 1.9 million meals annually, and prevent more than 6.4 million lbs of greenhouse gas emissions from entering the atmosphere.

We’re incredibly grateful to organizations and partners such as .ca and many others helping strengthen this growing ecosystem of support across Metro Vancouver ❤️
And we hope to see even more collaborations grow throughout 2026.

Because when communities work together, everyone benefits.

Sometimes community starts with something very small.
A conversation. A recommendation. A moment where something simply feels meaningful.

Not every volunteer journey begins with a big plan. Some begin by hearing that there’s a place where people are helping others, reducing food waste, and building real connections in the community.
And sometimes, that’s enough to change someone’s routine completely ❤️

If volunteering has been on your mind lately, maybe it’s worth listening to that feeling.

Before helping lead Food Link Society, spent years building successful manufacturing companies and businesses.
But over time, something became more important than growth, profit, or titles: creating meaningful impact in people’s lives.
Today, as one of the founders behind Food Link Society, Ali helps lead a volunteer-based system that rescues surplus food, supports thousands of families across BC, and builds stronger communities through dignity, consistency, and human connection.
This is more than food rescue.
It’s about choosing what truly matters.
If this story resonates with you, help us continue growing the impact by sharing, volunteering, or supporting Food Link Society 💚

Today, many people across are gathering with family, sharing meals, resting, or enjoying the long weekend ☀️
At Food Link Society, days like these remind us how powerful food can be.
Not just as nourishment, but as connection, dignity, and community.
Every rescued meal shared through our network helps strengthen that sense of care across the city.
Wishing everyone a safe and meaningful ❤️

What if enjoying great food could also help build a more sustainable community? ❤️
Through our partnership with .ca and .coffee are supporting Food Link Society’s mission to reduce food waste and improve food access across Metro Vancouver.
You can support the initiative by trying:
🥐 Raspberry Pistachio Suisse from Nemesis
🍝 Lucia’s Meatballs from Gigi’s
Each purchase contributes directly to Food Link Society while supporting a shared vision of creating a more connected and zero-waste future for Coquitlam.
We would love to see more collaborations like this continue growing throughout 2026. When local businesses, communities, and organizations work together, everyone benefits.
If you’re in the area, stop by .ca and be part of the initiative ❤️

When Matthew first came to Canada as a student, Food Link’s food program helped him during a difficult time.
Now, two years later, he’s giving back by volunteering and helping others in the community ❤️
Stories like his remind us that food support is about much more than meals. It creates connection, dignity, and community.
Thank you, Matthew, for sharing your story with us.

Mother’s Day can be beautiful, joyful, and full of love.
But for many families, it can also come with stress, sacrifice, and impossible choices.
At Food Link Society, we see every day how much strength mothers carry behind the scenes.
Stretching meals. Skipping portions. Making sure their children eat first. Finding ways to create comfort even during difficult times.
Food security is not just about food.
It’s about dignity, stability, health, and the feeling of safety every family deserves.
Today, we honour all mothers, caregivers, grandmothers, aunties, and women holding families together with love and resilience. 💛
And we continue working toward a future where no parent has to worry about how they will feed their family tomorrow.
Happy Mother’s Day.

A huge thank you to FreshCo. and the Chalo Freshco Strawberry hill team for their generous $4,000 donation through the Community Action Fund ❤️

This support helps us continue providing fresh, nutritious food to children, youth, and families across our communities while reducing food waste every day.

A special thank you to the team at the Strawberry Hill Chalo! FreshCo store, led by Vinesh Gaddam, friendly Owner, alongside Sarika Gaddam (Administration), Harikrishnan Rajendran Pillai (Assistant Store Manager), and Hiteshwar Sharma (Grocery Manager), they have created a store that genuinely cares about the people it serves.

If you’re in the area, we encourage you to visit the Chalo Freshco Strawberry hill store and experience the welcoming community spirit they’ve created.

Thank you for standing with us and helping build healthier communities.

This weekend, something simple can make a real difference.

At .ca , in collaboration with .coffee and you can support Food Link Society just by choosing specific menu items:

• Raspberry Pistachio Suisse → $0.50 donated
• Lucia’s Meatballs → $1 donated

A small decision that helps reduce food waste and support families in our community.
If you’re heading out this weekend, this is an easy way to be part of it.
