This contribution forms part of our broader $15,000 commitment to Douglas College, directly supporting students who reside in Surrey as they pursue their post-secondary education.

Yesterday, Douglas College’s Veterinarian Technology (VTEC) students had the opportunity to attend another inspiring Lunch & Learn session with Canada West Veterinary Specialists on The Path to Specialization: Exploring Career Growth in Veterinary Technology. From certifications to continuing education and specialization opportunities, students learned how to advance their careers in veterinary technology.

Last week we kicked off our first lunch and learn session of 2025 for Douglas College Veterinary Technology (VTEC) students. Our partner, Boundary Bay Veterinary Specialty Hospital, presented and helped our students learn more about the working in emergency environments.

Here's what our student had to say:

🎉 “I found the session was highly informative and clarified what is expected during a Co-op. And to add – It wasn’t just relevant for Co-op students but served as a valuable platform to ask questions and understand key processes like triaging and providing great insights into what a student with little to no clinical experience might encounter.” – Tim Calder, Second-year student

👏 “I think this program helps students to be more comfortable in the workforce and what to expect. I know students can be scared when they first jump into the workforce, from patient responsibility, to finding confidence to work with people, from the help of a mentorship opportunity. ” – Jasmine, Second-year student

🥳 “I think it was very important. It gave me good ideas for practicum and different avenues after graduating, especially if I want to specialize in something. ” – Tylar, First-year student

This series aims to advance the collaboration between leaders in the veterinary medicine sector and students in their first and second years of the VTEC program.
