We had a fantastic time Saturday at CLERC (Canadian Lions Eyeglass Recycling Centre) a Calgary-based, volunteer-run project of the Lions Club that collects, cleans, tests, and ships used eyeglasses to people in developing countries. Established in 2003, it handles roughly 240,000+ pairs annually, saving millions from landfills and providing free prescription glasses to those in need.

When the Pride arrives things start to happen. Rural Lions Clubs Claresholm Lions and Blairmore Lions joined Southridge Lions an urban club and had the processing of eyeglasses happening at an eye popping level. Reflecting on days like these 3 fabulous Lions Clubs shared with us shows and supports the concept that we are so much better off when we work together. Thank you Claresholm, Blairmore and Southridge Lions you rocked our world.

It with great sadness to announce the passing of Jim. Jim served as Claresholm Lions members for 15. Fought a long hard battle of Cancer.
Condolences and sympathy to Diane and rest of the family. RIP

It is with deep sadness we announce the passing of James(Jim) Pedersen at 91 years of age, James Morgan Pedersen passed away peacefully in the early hours of January 13, 2026.

Jim leaves big shoes to fill as he was a pillar of the Claresholm community, winning the Lion of the Year in 1974, citizen of the year award in 1980, and devoting over twenty-five years of his life designing, building, and maintaining the Claresholm Community Center, along with being a dedicated member of the Claresholm Lions Club since 1972, and the Sons of Norway since 1960. His wife Shirley has often helped us in many events and has continued to do so even when Jim was unable to.

A service will be held at Zentner Funeral Home on February 14 at 1:00pm. In lieu of flowers, the family requests a donation to the Claresholm Lion’s Club be made in Jim’s memory.

Rest in peace Jim and thank you for your outstanding years of service.

We are so lucky to have such amazing service groups in our community who continually support local efforts. 💙

A few of the Lions members—along with Kona the service dog—have braved the cold to hand out candy canes during the Christmas Cruise! 🎄🐾

Another Grey Cup has come and gone. The Cl. Lions club would thank everyone who bought the Grey Cup raffle tickets this year. Also thank you to all the businesses (Cl.Local Press, Home Hardware, Flowers on 49th, Watt and Stewart, IDA pharmacy, UFA Bulk station, The Clubhouse- Darryl MacDonald) and all the Health care facilties (CCMHA, WCCCC, Home Care, Cl.
