We have been having a blast in our newly opened workshop, this space was provided to us on a grant from Community Foundation of Lethbridge and Southwestern Alberta. This space is providing our members opportunities they would not have otherwise. They are loving every minute so far! They’ve been hard at work creating items for our gift shop up front, Check out what we have available for sale in our boutique!

The family of Jim Lockhart would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to everyone who made a donation to Sparta House in memory of Jim. Your generosity and compassion have truly touched both the family and Sparta House.

Together, you donated an incredible $1,095, and those funds will directly support the programs, meals, and services that make Sparta House a place where our members feel welcomed, valued, and supported every day.

Sparta House would also like to express our sincere gratitude to Jim’s family. During a time of profound loss, they chose to think of us by requesting memorial donations in lieu of flowers and cards. We are deeply honoured to have been included as part of his legacy, and we are truly grateful for their kindness and support.

We are so excited to announce that Sparta House has been approved for a grant totaling $4750.00 from South Country Co-op through their "Communities in Mind" fund. This money will allow Sparta House to run a Community Mental Wellness & Skill Building Program. This program will be a structured, group-based program, designed to support individuals living with mental illness through practical skill development, social connection and improved access to mental health tools.

We are so incredibly grateful for the generous support of South Country Co-op Communities in Mind fund.

🤠 We are gearing up for our second annual PANCAKE BREAKFAST but we made it even better this year by adding our annual GARAGE SALE!!

🥞 We will be serving up pancakes, sausages and scrambled egg along with coffee and juice from 9 - 11:30 am! Saddle up for some delicious eats and then check out the garage sale!!

We are hiring!

We are looking for one or more Part-time/Casual (anywhere from 6-30 hours per week)

Monday–Friday, between 9:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m (Our normal hours are Monday/wednesday/thursday 9-3, Tuesdays 9-7, Fridays 9-2 but we close on Fridays for the summer and sometimes have dinners on days other than Tuesdays)

Anticipated Start Date: July 15, 2026

Sparta House is seeking reliable and compassionate Part Time/Casual Support Staff to assist with daily clubhouse operations. This role is hands-on and people-focused, supporting both the physical space and the members who use it. The ideal candidate is adaptable, respectful, and comfortable working in a mental health–supportive environment.

Key Responsibilities
-Assist with general cleaning and upkeep of the clubhouse
-Support the kitchen and meal program, including food prep, cooking, serving, and cleanup
-Interact positively and respectfully with members throughout the day
-Assist with recreational programming
-Provide informal support and encouragement to members as needed
-Work collaboratively with other staff to maintain a calm, safe, and welcoming space
-Follow all Sparta House policies, procedures, and boundaries

Qualifications & Requirements
-Open availability within the stated hours
-Ability to work on call as needed
-Comfortable working with individuals living with mental illness
-Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently when required
-Physically able to complete cleaning and kitchen-related tasks
-Must be willing and able to obtain a Criminal Record Check
-Food safety experience is an asset (training can be provided)
-Craft, sewing, DIY, 3D printing or laser engraving experience is another big ASSET
