🏒💜 WORLD GIRLS’ ICE HOCKEY WEEKEND! 💜🏒
What an incredible day celebrating girls and women in hockey! 🏒✨
Today, our Clarenville Female Caribous proudly participated in the International Ice Hockey Federation’s (IIHF) 15th Annual World Girls’ Ice Hockey Weekend!
We welcomed 56 female players from U7 to U18 for a day filled with hockey, laughter, friendships, teamwork, and most importantly, FUN! 💜
This event was made possible through the support of the IIHF, Hockey Canada, and the Hockey Canada Foundation, with funding provided to help cover the costs of hosting events across the country.
One of the highlights of the day was watching our youngest Caribous team up with our older female players for fun on-ice activities! Seeing the encouragement, smiles, and connections between players of all ages was a reminder of just how important growing the female game really is.
A special thank you to our U18 female players who stepped up as junior coaches to help our U7 girls on the ice. You are wonderful role models for the next generation of Caribous! 💜
Our U7/U9 girls also got creative, making posters to cheer on our U11 and U18 female teams during their games! Thank you to the U18 players who helped our little Caribous with this special project.
We were also thrilled to have Caribous alumna Jayme Guy, who currently plays with the Southern Blaze of the WJAHL, join us for the celebrations! It’s always special to see former Caribous continuing their hockey journeys and inspiring our younger players.
🏒 Game Day Highlights!
❤️ U11 Female Caribous faced off against the Teepees in two exciting games, battling to a 3–3 tie in both matchups!
🖤 U18 Female Caribous played two fantastic games against Northeast. Northeast took the first game 3–2, but our Caribous came back strong with a 4–0 victory in game two!

A special thank you to our dedicated female coaches Rebecca Russell, Jamie Randell, Meagan Perry, Heidi Wells, and Courtney Russell for the time and effort they put into organizing and planning our on-ice session.
Thank you as well to Michael Petten, Jonathan Payne, and Corey Prince for jumping in and helping make the day such a success!
🥤🍩 Thanks to the event funding and support from Clarenville Booster Juice, every participant was treated to Timbits and Booster Juice!
Each participant also received a custom World Girls’ Ice Hockey Weekend puck to take home as a keepsake of this special day! A little reminder of the friendships made, the memories created, and the pride of being part of the female hockey community.
Today wasn’t about wins, losses, or goals scored. It was about building confidence, creating friendships, encouraging one another, and showing our youngest players that there is a place for them in this amazing game.
From our littlest U7 players to our graduating U18 girls, today was a celebration of how far female hockey has come and the exciting future ahead. Thank you to everyone who helped make today possible ! 💜🏒
