The Rotary Club of Chemainus is a part of Rotary International, a world-wide fellowship of community-minded people committed to the RI motto of "Service Above Self ". Although Rotary International was established in 1905 and the Chemainus Rotary club began in 1950, both have moved with the times and continue to work hard to meet the needs of people in local communities and internationally. Evidenc

e of the many contributions Rotary has made to our community can be seen around Chemainus. Residents and visitors can enjoy a performance at the band shell in Waterwheel Park, drop a fishing line at the Fuller Lake pier, launch a boat at Kin Beach, or walk the Trans Canada trail next to the golf course all because of Rotary members' efforts. Other local Rotary contributions are less visible but just as important. These include annual high school scholarships and support for local organisations like the Harvest House Food Bank. Membership of the Rotary Club of Chemainus is open to men and women. Our members include people from a wide variety of businesses and occupations. They are committed to improving our community and becoming involved in international projects like the campaigns to eradicate polio, develop literacy and bring clean fresh water to communities in need. The Rotary Club of Chemainus meets every Wednesday evening at 6:30 PM at the Mount Brenton Golf Club. The club welcomes new members who are interested in serving our local community and helping people in other countries.
