June 15th is World Elder Abuse Awareness Day, and this year marks 20 years of people coming together to raise awareness and take action.

Across BC, Community Response Networks are planning local events and activities to bring communities together. This is your opportunity to take part. Attend an event, start a conversation, or help share information in your own network.

This year’s national theme, Be Bold: Age with Attitude, is a reminder to value the strength and voices of older adults and to stand up for their right to live free from abuse and discrimination.

Visit our website to find events near you and see how you can get involved.

Emergency Preparedness Week is a reminder that small steps today can make a big difference during an emergency, especially for older adults and those who may need extra support. This year’s theme, “In it Together,” highlights the importance of staying connected with neighbours, friends, family and community.

Visit the PreparedBC website for practical guides and resources to help you prepare for emergencies of all kinds. https://ow.ly/HaW050YVL6N

May is Caregiver Awareness Month, a time to recognize the millions of caregivers across Canada who support family members, friends, and loved ones every day.

Caregiving is deeply important work, but it can also be emotionally and physically demanding. This year’s theme, Together in Caregiving, highlights the value of connection, shared support, and community.

Throughout the month, our partners at Family Caregivers of British Columbia are offering opportunities for caregivers to connect, access resources, and feel supported.

Visit the link in the comments to learn more about the ways to get involved throughout May and beyond.
