Five days a week, a group of women sorts through every bag and box that comes through our door.

They decide what goes on the floor and what doesn't. They price fairly. They steam the wrinkles out of donated jackets and find the matching lid for a casserole dish.

None of what the May Court Club does locally happens without them.

To our volunteers: thank you. We see the work, even when no one else does.

Congratulations to the graduating classes of 2026.

June in Brockville means grad season, and every year the May Court Club of Brockville is proud to award scholarships to graduating students from local high schools. It is one of our favourite parts of what we do.

Those scholarships are funded the same way everything we do is funded. Through donations to the thrift shop, sales at 75 King St W, and a community that keeps showing up.

To the grads: well done. We are rooting for you.

If you have never stopped in, this is a good week to change that.

The May Court Club Thrift Shop is at 75 King St W in downtown Brockville. It is the kind of place that is easier to understand once you have walked through the door. The floor changes constantly because everything on it came from someone in this community, dropped off and sorted by hand, priced fairly, and put out for the next person to find.

Some people come in knowing exactly what they are looking for. Most do not. Both tend to leave with something.

No pressure, no obligation. Just a well-stocked shop on a good street with free parking nearby and everything priced to move.

Come take a look.

This one will not last long.

We have a brand new Denby Curve teapot on the floor, complete with sugar bowl and creamer. Still has the original tag on it. Denby has been making stoneware in England since 1809 and the Curve line is known for its warm tones and clean, timeless design.

Online retail price: $250.
Our price: $150.

For a brand new, never used set from one of the most respected names in British stoneware, that is a find worth coming in for.

This is a one of a kind item. When it is gone, it is gone.

Letting go of things is not always easy.

The dishes from a kitchen you loved. The clothes from a season of your life that has passed. The books you always meant to reread. There is often more attached to these things than we expect when we finally pack them up.

When people bring those things to us, we take that seriously. Everything is sorted by hand, priced thoughtfully, and put out where someone new can find it and bring it home.

And the money from that sale goes back into this community. Dental and health care. School nutrition. Food banks. Scholarships.

It is a quiet kind of generosity, and this town is full of it.

June has a particular feeling to it.

The days are long. The to-do list shifts. People start thinking about patios, road trips, backyard dinners, and weekends that do not need much of a plan.

It is also a good time to wander into a thrift shop with no agenda and see what finds you.

Our volunteers have been keeping the floor fresh all week. There is no way to know exactly what is out there until you walk in, which is honestly part of the appeal. The inventory is entirely shaped by what this community brings through the door, and right now that means a good mix of summer-ready finds.

Come in with a little time to spare. That tends to be when the best discoveries happen.

Most people have a thrift shop story.

The jacket that became a favourite. The piece of furniture that anchored a whole room. The gift found by accident that turned out to be exactly right. There is something about finding a good thing in an unexpected place that stays with you.

We hear those stories at the shop sometimes. Someone comes back to tell us what they found last month and what it meant. We love that.

What we do not always get to tell them is what their purchase meant on our end. That it went into a pool of funds that supports dental and health care, school nutrition programs, food banks, and scholarships right here in Leeds and Grenville. That a good find and a real need got connected through a simple transaction.

If you have a May Court story, we would love to hear it. And if you do not have one yet, come in this week.

We have been at this for 66 years.

The May Court Club of Brockville opened its thrift shop to fund local needs that fall through the cracks. Dental and health care. Breakfast and lunch programs in 22 schools across Leeds and Grenville. Food banks. Scholarships. Youth programs. Libraries. Music festivals.

Funding comes from the shop at 75 King St W, stocked entirely by community donations and run by women who show up six days a week because the work matters.

Nearly $3.5 million back into this community. One purchase at a time.

If you're in this weekend, thank you. If you've been meaning to stop in, this is a good week.

Something special is happening in Brockville this weekend.

The May Court Club of Brockville is proud to host the 92nd Annual Meeting of the Association of May Court Clubs of Canada. Delegates from across the country will be arriving Thursday and Friday, with meetings running through the weekend.

This year's theme is Sailing Along in 2026, a nod to the beautiful St. Lawrence River right here in our backyard. It feels like a fitting theme for a city that has always had a close relationship with the water.

Part of Canada's oldest women's service organization, founded in 1898, we are honoured to welcome our fellow May Court members to Brockville and to show them what this community is all about.

If you are passing by 75 King St W this week, take a moment to look at our nautical themed window. We had a little fun with it.

Welcome to Brockville, delegates. We are glad you are here.
