Veteran's Elite Canines is a non-Profit organization dedicated to assisting Canadian veterans with PTSD through service dogs.

Here at Veterans Elite Canines we strive to provide Canadian Veterans suffering from PTSD with trained Service Dogs. Our programs will provide the Veteran with an unparalleled experience. The Veteran will undergo training with the dog to establish an unsurpassable bond. Our foundation supplies the dogs pro bono with the support of generous donations from fellow Canadians

After a quick run through the grocery store, the dogs and I spent time, just sitting. Watching carts, people, young and old pass by. We listened to the rhythm of the store. Sat in the noise and activity. Ghost is coming along as Gracie ( #1 trainer) and I reintroduce her to places and things. We are slowly building her confidence back up again. If you have ever met me, you’d know very well I always put the dog’s needs first. I’ve cooked dog food for years. Today I woke up so sick, 1st time in forever. Because of my MS I avoid sickness like the plague. My kids would attest to it. If I could have fed them with a slingshot, I would have. By late afternoon, the trips to the bathroom increased, again last time I threw up was post accident, from concussion. Gracie has not left my side, and Ghost has been sneaking in a bit of loving when Gracie lets her. If I could video their behaviour I would, but I can barely see straight. And how do I repay their love. Kibble 💔. I’ve had some on hand augmenting Ghosts diet, trying to get some weight on her. So where am I going with this; dog (animal) owners need to be prepared. These k9’s will do anything for us, and this is my thanks. Hopefully tomorrow I can drag myself to the kitchen to cook for these amazing creatures.

Huge shoutout to Home Depot Brockville for providing us with everything we needed to get our training centre ready to open, thank you so much. We cannot do what we do with community support. To the guys who showed up to help, I can’t remember being so grateful for extra sets of hands. This is truly the meaning of “stronger together” and what community is all about! Best co-workers ever. If you would like to be a part of this great team, please reach out. We are looking to fill various positions. We are a not for profit run by all unpaid volunteers.
If you are looking for purpose, this will certainly fill your heart and whatever time you can commit. We need to build our team, as we head into expansion. Looking for Admin Assistant, Operation Manager, Grant writer, Trainers with or without experience, former professional dog Handlers, Marketing and IT. Soon we will expand this to puppy raisers. This is truly a labour of love as we get to be a part of a Veteran’s healing journey. If you are a Veteran, family of a Veteran, First Responder, or anyone who has worked within the mental Health field, (those who have 1st hand experience dealing with Post Traumatic and or Operational Stress Injuries) and you find this of interest, please email [email protected]. I confess, I’m not the greatest with paperwork, and post accident focus has been rather challenging. That being said, I love being on the road with this girl. We are currently between flights at the Calgary airport, en route to Medicine Hat. Had a super early morning flight out of Ottawa and for many reasons, primarily unpredictable winter road conditions we chose to spend the night at an Ottawa airport hotel. Had a fabulous meal and very nice room. Traveling today, other than a delay has been flawless. Gracie was born into this line of work. Met Constable Eric from the Calgary City Police who I shamelessly asked to pose with Gracie. Cowboy hat was just too cool. We struck up a great conversation and I found out, though born in Canada, he was raised in Australia. Served there for 20 years in their army,(hope I didn’t mess that up, I was mesmerized by the hat), then finished his career with an exchange to Trenton. Being Canadian born, he decided to come an give Canadian life a go. We were looking for the outdoor rest area, it was a no go inside and after helping us find it, he gave us a couple cool patches. Definitely have to get some made up to reciprocate. Despite delays, lineups, and who knows what people are dealing with, I see so much kindness in the world. Thanks Constable Eric for taking the time to chat with a fellow Veteran. 🇨🇦🇦🇺🇨🇦.

We finally did it! It has taken almost a year, today we downsized and upsized at the same time. Post accident we went from a 2012 F150 to a 2024 Maverick. Shiny and new and ready for a new look.
