This year marks our 50th year of empowering job seekers, partnering with amazing local businesses, and breaking down barriers to employment. We are so incredibly proud of our roots and immensely grateful to everyone who has walked through our doors at 89 Hubbell Street over the last five decades.

If you noticed a sudden lack of paranormal activity around the green this past Friday, you can thank us.

We traded in our standard golf clubs for some proton packs and took on the Cartoon Classic - Brockville & District Chamber of Commerce's Annual Golf Tournament in full Ghostbusters style!

🏌️‍♂️ Tournament Highlights:

⚙️The Gear: Full jumpsuits and custom packs. Are they aerodynamic? Absolutely not. Did they improve our swing? Also no.

💡The Strategy: Crossing the streams on the fairway (highly discouraged by the rules of both golf and physics, but we risked it anyway).

⚖️The Verdict: We might not be taking home a green jacket anytime soon, but we definitely kept Slimer away from the snack cart.

🚨 Stay Cool, Stay Safe: Air Conditioning Support for OW & ODSP Recipients ☀️

With extreme heat events becoming more common, staying cool isn’t just about comfort—it’s a matter of health and safety. Prolonged exposure to high heat can lead to serious health risks, especially for seniors, individuals with existing medical conditions, and young children.

If you or someone you know is currently receiving Ontario Works (OW) or the Ontario Disability Support Program (ODSP), you may be eligible to receive a cooling device (such as an air conditioner) as a discretionary benefit.

What you need to know:

💡How it works: Depending on your local office, funding may be available to cover or help with the cost of a cooling device.

🏥Medical Support: In most areas, you will need a letter or a prescription from a healthcare provider confirming that a cooling device is necessary for your health and safety.

🔏Privacy Matters: Your health privacy is protected. Healthcare providers only need to confirm that you have an eligible health condition—they do not need to share sensitive or specific diagnostic details.

Because local rules, eligibility criteria, and application processes vary by municipality, we recommend reaching out directly to your local OW caseworker or ODSP office to find out exactly how to apply in our area.

Brockville was absolutely glowing with colour and energy last week for Pride Week. But the celebration doesn't stop there! June is officially Pride Month, and we are keeping that energy going all month long. 🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️

At Career Services, seeing so many local businesses, organizations, and neighbours filling the streets and the vendor fair is exactly what building an inclusive workforce is all about.

True workforce inclusion means creating year-round spaces where everyone feels safe, valued, and completely free to bring their authentic selves to work every single day.

We are incredibly proud to partner with local employers who don't just celebrate diversity during Pride Week, but actively work every day of the year to break down barriers and build an equitable, accessible job market for everyone in our community.

National Accessibility Week may have wrapped up last week, but our commitment to inclusivity doesn't stop just because the calendar changed.

Let's look at a quick Myth vs. Reality:

❌ Myth: Accessibility only benefits people with disabilities.
✅ Reality: Accessibility benefits everyone—from captions on videos in a noisy room to flexible work environments that prevent burnout.

Inclusion isn’t a bonus or a checkbox—it’s essential to how we live and work every single day.
