Pride week is not over!

On Tuesday, June 9 join us at Speak the Spark: Out of the Blue. 7 pm at the Library Annex. Everyone welcome!

And on Friday, June 12, a screening of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert thanks to our friends at the Bowen Island Film Society. 6:30 pm at the Bowen Theatre. Get your advance tickets, as this one is sure to sell out!

Special mention to and for your torrential downpour support! Free coffee and snacks for our volunteers setting up in the rain, and the go-time offer of big tents for the dance floor! This Pride has truly been a community effort!

Reminder of the day’s schedule:

🎉 11:00 AM - Pre-Parade Rally at the BICS School Field

🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️ 11:15 AM-ish - Third Annual Bowen Island Pride Parade down the Multi-Use Path. Parade starts after the 11:15 AM ferry departs.

🦄 11:15 AM - 12:00 PM - Pop-Up Cheer Station at the Bowen Island Library Lawn

🎶✨🎵12:00 PM - 3:00 PM - NEW! All-Ages Pier Party on the Municipal Pier

You may have noticed we are sporting a new Pride flag! This is a Two-Spirit Inclusive version of the flag that also represents the traditional rainbow colours, Black and Indigenous, Trans and Intersex inclusive.

The two feathers at the centre represent masculine and feminine identities, and the circle to which the feathers are attached represent the unification of masculinity and femininity into a separate, unique gender. Its placement in front of the rainbow flag signifies explicit inclusion of two-spirit experiences in the 2SLGBTQIA+ community.

Bowen Island Pride Society has adopted this as our official flag in an effort to be as inclusive as possible! Look for it at Pride on Saturday!
