Every year on July 16, we celebrate the dazzling world of drag and the performers who prove that confidence is the best accessory, and glitter is always a neutral.

Drag is an art form that blends creativity, performance, fashion, comedy, music, storytelling, and just the right amount of attitude. It's a celebration of self-expression that has entertained audiences, challenged expectations, and built community for generations.

Today, celebrate the artists who remind us to take up space, own the spotlight, and never apologize for being extra.

💄 Support your local drag performers.
💸 Tip generously applause doesn't pay the bills.
🌈 Celebrate creativity in all its fabulous forms.

International Non-Binary People’s Day takes place annually on 14 July each year and celebrates and raises awareness of non-binary people, who do not identify within the traditional gender binary.

Non-binary is an umbrella term for people whose gender identity doesn’t sit comfortably with ‘man’ or ‘woman’. Non-binary identities are varied and can include people who identify with some aspects of binary identities, while others reject them entirely.

Non-binary people can feel that their gender identity and gender experience involves being both a man and a woman, or that it is fluid, in between, or completely outside of that binary.

We at Bowen Pride believe everyone deserves to be celebrated for who they are. Join us in recognizing International Non-Binary People's Day by learning more, showing support, and helping build a community where people of all gender identities belong.

Pride week is not over!

On Tuesday, June 9 join us at Speak the Spark: Out of the Blue. 7 pm at the Library Annex. Everyone welcome!

And on Friday, June 12, a screening of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert thanks to our friends at the Bowen Island Film Society. 6:30 pm at the Bowen Theatre. Get your advance tickets, as this one is sure to sell out!

Special mention to and for your torrential downpour support! Free coffee and snacks for our volunteers setting up in the rain, and the go-time offer of big tents for the dance floor! This Pride has truly been a community effort!

Reminder of the day’s schedule:

🎉 11:00 AM - Pre-Parade Rally at the BICS School Field

🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️ 11:15 AM-ish - Third Annual Bowen Island Pride Parade down the Multi-Use Path. Parade starts after the 11:15 AM ferry departs.

🦄 11:15 AM - 12:00 PM - Pop-Up Cheer Station at the Bowen Island Library Lawn

🎶✨🎵12:00 PM - 3:00 PM - NEW! All-Ages Pier Party on the Municipal Pier

Awesome music thanks to DJ Mayor McCheese and DJ Jamie Nesbitt, featuring a special performance by The Unstoppable Conni Smudge!
