Contamination risks don't live only on the processing floor. Packing houses, retail handling spaces, foodservice kitchens โ€” any environment involved in making or moving food can be a source of hazards that work against your food safety program.

That's the starting point for Neogen's upcoming webinar. On April 28 at 11 a.m., Ana Lozano and Arlene Larson will walk through how environmental monitoring fits within HACCP, how it validates prerequisite programs like sanitation and GMPs, and what leading industry practice looks like today.

What's the state of play on ?

For the latest episode of FBO's podcast, Chris Conway is back from his trip to Washington, where he joined an Ontario Chamber of Commerce trade delegation meeting with U.S. senators from both parties, the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, industry representatives, and Canada's new ambassador to the United States, Mark Wiseman.

The delegation visited Washington to advance core priorities critical to industry and the preservation of our shared tri-lateral trade agreement. Stable, reliable, rules-based trade is deeply integrated into the North American economy. In the midst of per-negotiations for the July 1 CUSMA review, leaders from the Ontario government and critical sectors such as energy, life sciences, manufacturing, agriculture, and forestry, held discussions focused on safeguarding supply chains, protecting jobs, and ensuring CUSMA continues to deliver prosperity across borders.

In this episode, Chris walks us through what he heard on the ground. We talk about where CUSMA negotiations stand ahead of review, the potential scenarios to come from a new agreement, lingering pressures from Section 232 tariffs on steel and aluminum, how processors can get engaged through FBO's advocacy work, and more.

Thank you to the City of Brantford Economic Development for hosting this morning's hybrid Food Industry networking event at City Hall.

To support local business and spark further innovation among its largest sector, the city welcomed company leaders and owners along with federal, provincial, and industry partners to an information and networking event to facilitate collaboration and growth.

Brantford's economy is home to a flourishing and diverse agri-food and food manufacturing industry, boasting recent expansions to its food processing, packaging, and supply chain sectorsโ€”including a new state-of-the-art can manufacturing facility, recently announced food processing plants, and warehouse distribution facilities.

FBO's CEO, Chris Conway, presented as part of a panel that included members of Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada, FCC Food and Beverage, and the ministry of Ontario Agriculture, Food and Agribusiness.

Chris highlighted the association's critical advocacy initiatives to bolster the province's food and beverage processing industry, including its activity with the Washington Trade delegation and the running success of its flagship recruitment and retention initiative, CareersNOW!. Chris was also joined by FBO's Membership and Industry Director, Jason Crawford, and Program Manager, Dyson Wells.

A special thank you to Mayor Kevin Davis for his opening remarks that touched on the city's economic history and the importance of a diverse local economyโ€”and how that prosperity supports the community initiatives that matter most to residents.
