Older, wiser, a little opinionated, and absolutely convinced that your pillow belongs to HIM. Meet Neji, a senior Sphynx gentleman who is looking for his perfect human — someone who understands that love has no bedtime, personal space is optional, and drool is simply a love language. 😂💕

❤️ NEJI’S LOVE LANGUAGE

🔴 Laser pointers & interactive toys — Age is just a number when there’s a red dot to chase!

🫶 24/7 human affection — Cuddles, kisses, pets, and attention at all hours of the day AND night. Sleep is optional when Neji needs loving.

🛏️ Professional pillow thief — He doesn’t want his own pillow. He wants YOUR pillow, your warmth, and your face as close to his as possible.

💦 The biscuit-making drooler — When Neji is happy, the biscuits come out, the purrs begin, and the drool starts flowing. Consider it a five-star compliment. 😂

🌿 Catnip enthusiast — A little nip, a little play, a lot of happiness.

🚽 Litter box connoisseur — Sand or clay litter is a MUST. This distinguished gentleman knows what he likes, and crystal or alternative litter just isn’t his style!

🙄 THINGS THAT TEST HIS PATIENCE

🐶 Puppy energy — He may tolerate the chaos, but don’t mistake tolerance for approval. Neji has opinions, and he isn’t afraid to share them.

🪟 Being separated from his human — If you’re outside and he can see you through the window, prepare for a full-volume serenade. He will scream his love letter to you until you come inside where you BELONG: cuddling him.

🎸 Country music — Absolutely not. He has standards.

🌅 Early mornings — Please respect his beauty sleep. Breakfast and affection can wait until he’s emotionally prepared to face the day. 😉

🩺 A LITTLE ABOUT NEJI’S HEALTH

Neji has been diagnosed with HCM (Stage B1) and small-cell lymphoma. Both conditions are currently described as slow-progressing. He takes one pill daily to support his tummy and eats a prescription hypoallergenic diet.

We want his next family to understand his medical needs and be prepared to give him the love, monitoring, and veterinary care he deserves. ❤️

Neji will come with one month’s supply of his prescription food and medication to help make his transition easier.

A loving home where he can be someone’s special boy. A home that appreciates the beauty of a senior cat, respects his boundaries, keeps the litter box to his liking, and doesn’t mind sharing a pillow — or a little drool.

Today we also got a very exciting package in the mail from Flint's Fashions & Sphynxified

Louise has herself some brand new custom made medical jammies 🥳

We have been working with some yeastie overgrowth of Louise’s skin since she arrived. Her skin is much much better, however, she does have flareups every now and then from cuddling with the other cats and everybody producing extra sweat. It is difficult to find good fitting jammies in stores, with proper coverage down the legs, so we were very happy that Flint’s was able to make some custom ones for us so quickly.

Louise was a bit shy and didn’t really want me taking any pictures ha ha but here are a couple of shots - how freaking adorable is her little butt in these jammies?

Neji had his follow up appointment with his doctor today at Kent Veterinary Clinic. Everyone was excited to see him and his doctor was so happy with how great he looks. Happy to report Neji is a now a perfect weight and he is eating his prescription food with gusto.

As Neji is also having normal stools we are able to keep him on the same dose of medication. The best news about his appointment . . . He has been given two thumbs up to embark on the next part of his journey with us and to find his forever family.

Stay tuned for Neji‘s official adoption post! We have had several families reach out inquiring about Neji since he has been in our care and hopefully we are able to find his perfect match soon!

The Three Musketeers have safely landed at BCSR HQ 💜

After a long day of travel, the girls are settling in and starting to explore. Our by colour beauty is a bit more unsure of what to think so we are letting her decompress for now as travel and a new environment can be a lot to take in

For now, here are a couple of pictures of the white gals. We will be sharing more updates and photos over the next week and the trio have an appointment to see our vet on Wednesday

Kenny will not be available due to declining health.

Meet Mr. Steal Your Girl Kendall aka Kenny

Kenny is the newest edition to the BCSR family. This little Bambino boy is approximately 10 years old & came into our care after his owner passed away. Unfortunately, we do not know a lot about his previous history, but we already know that Kenny is a professional cuddler who wants to be held in your arms at all times.

Upon arrival we discovered that Kenny has extremely short front legs, and his legs are the shortest that I have seen to date in a Bambino. Bambinos are a product of breeding a sphynx and a munchkin type cat together in order to try and produce hairless kittens with short legs for cosmetic purposes.

Unfortunately, these short legged cats are a lot more prone to arthritis and joint issues, as well as problems with their backs, due to the shortened legs. Sometimes these kittens are born with four short legs, but we have also seen cats with two short legs and two regular length legs, which makes these issues even worse. Bambinos are sadly a product of backyard breeders trying to make money off of this look and are essentially what we like to refer to as the “doodles” of the Sphynx world much like the Elf & Dwelf

Now back to our man Kenny. He had his intake examination at Kent Veterinary Clinic with the amazing Dr. Wong. I have had the pleasure of working with Dr. Wong for many years at another clinic and she has seen several of my own cats so we were very excited to discover she was Kenny’s doctor today!

Fantastic news is overall Kenny seems to be in good health & he did not have a heart murmur (woohoo!) . Kenny does have a little lump on his lower lip, however, the doctor is confident that this is likely due to constant rubbing of one of his canine teeth in that area and nothing to be worried about. He does have some mild gingivitis and tartar on his teeth, as well as your typical Sphynx teeth stain staining, but does not require dental work at this time. Kenny also received a booster FVRCP vaccine and will also be dewormed as we do all for all of the cats that come into our program.

And then there were 3 more………

This week has been a very busy week for BCSR.  Not only have we had two cats join us in the past week but we were also contacted by another rescue organization asking if we would be able to take three nakeds who came into their care.

Of course we said yes, and this weekend we have another Sphynx, Elf & Bambino joining the BCSR family.

We are very proud to have such a good relationship with other rescue organizations, as well as veterinary staff, who do not hesitate to reach out for help when needed.

Please note due to the high volume of recent surrenders, and many of them having medical needs, there may be a delayed response time replying to messages.

Also to note - these cats are NOT available for adoption as they have to see our Medical team first in order to be assessed before we know what type of individual needs they may have. Animals coming into our rescue do stay with us in care for a minimum of two weeks and are only made available for adoption once they have been cleared medically.

***Volunteer Found***

ISO an amazing human to help us unload a car load of donated cat litter for the rescue tonight in Abbotsford.

Unfortunately, I was involved in a hit and run motor vehicle vehicle accident last week and am not able to lift heavy bags of cat litter 😿

We are very blessed to be receiving cat litter as this is a very needed item that does not get donated frequently. BCSR  has one more naked joining our program this week, and three more who will be arriving soon so this wonderful donation is coming at a great time in need.
