Places of posting: Working regions/offices of THP Bangladesh (Barishal, Dhaka, Feni, Jashore, Khulna, Mymensingh, Rangpur, Rajshahi, Sylhet)

এই কার্যক্রমটি বাস্তবায়িত হচ্ছে Multi-stakeholder Initiative for Peace and Stability (MIPS) প্রকল্পের অধীনে, যা FCDO, UK দ্বারা অর্থায়িত। প্রকল্পটির উদ্দেশ্য হলো রাজনৈতিক, ধর্মীয় ও জাতিগত সহিংসতা প্রতিরোধ করা এবং সমাজে শান্তি, সহনশীলতা ও ঐক্যের সংস্কৃতি গড়ে তোলা।

Dressed in a red saree, Bipasha Rani from Rajeswar village, Rayenda Union, Sharankhola Upazila, Bagerhat, has turned her home garden into a source of life and health. Her husband recently underwent gallbladder surgery and cannot eat market-bought vegetables. That’s why, despite completing her master’s degree, Bipasha chose not to seek a job but to grow safe vegetables at home instead.

A member of The Hunger Project Bangladesh’s Village Development Team, Bipasha used to grow vegetables using both organic and chemical fertilizers. But after attending a two-day training on “Natural Methods of Homestead Vegetable Cultivation”, her perspective has changed.

“From now on, I’ll grow food free from chemical fertilizers and pesticides. This will keep my family healthy,” said Bipasha. “If people don’t start producing their own food within the next five years, no one will be able to stay healthy,” she added.

The training, organized under The Hunger Project Bangladesh’s GASN Nutrition Project, brought together 30 women participants. At the end of the session, each participant received 12 varieties of local vegetable seeds.

The participants expressed their commitment to build nutritious, healthy villages and to preserve local seeds by establishing community seed banks. 🌾💚
