Nangana's C411 Country has been awarded a Women's Environmental Leadership (WELA) Grant of $5000. We are honoured to join ECOMIND, Australia's leading youth climate mental health and wellbeing charity; the Climate Justice Coalition; Bushfire Survivors for Climate Action and the two big winners - Australian Pasifika Educators Network Inc and Healthy Rivers Dubbo. It is extraordinary how many small groups are working for the survival of people and planet. Thank you to you all and thank you to WELA.

Save the Dandenongs League AGM. This mob just stopped 400,000 cubic metres of fill being dumped on 15 hectares of Green Wedge land at 465 Lysterfield Road. VCAT delivered its decision on 24 June 2026, affirming Council’s refusal and granting no permit. The Tribunal found the use incompatible with the valley’s landscape and environmental significance, with no net community benefit, and identified unresolved risks to Monbulk Creek and groundwater that could not simply be left to permit conditions.

Who would have thought that 75 years from when SDL was founded, it's still up to volunteers and tiny groups to save nature and our landscapes from degradation.

Friends of Glenfern Green Wedge, Green Wedges Coalition, Knox Environment Society, Friends of Glenfern Valley Bushlands, the National Trust DR Branch, and the Wurundjeri Woi-wurrung Cultural Heritage Aboriginal Corporation assisted SDL, Melbourne Water and Yarra Ranges Council.
