While at the Bulahdelah fire Wootton1 was paged to another fire at Herival's Road, Wootton.

Tuncurry 1 was the first truck on scene, and were requesting additional resources.

On arrival back at station Brett was available as a crew of 1 and responded. Gangat 7 and Rainbow Flat 7 also assisted.

Thanks to Adam who arrived part way through, and to groupie Nathan Birchall who was hoseman until Adam arrived, the fire was extinguished and blacked out.

Wootton 1 - Bernard, Karen & Brett - responded to a bushfire on Old Inn Road, Bulahdelah today.

It was a private hazard reduction that had got away.

We helped Bulahdelah 1 and Gangat 7 do a backburn to contain it.

The Shed Extension.

After a lengthy period of time, the incoming power cable issue has been resolved as to how the Council Asset is being upgraded with regard to funding.
The cable is low to the ground and is not currently compliant with the Rules & Reg’s. As such, it has been agreed that Council will cover the electrical works cost and Wootton RFS will cover the excavation & ancillary costs. The work started last Friday 20th and it is hard to believe but it is now actually happening !

Community raised funds are being used for the Wootton RFS portion of the works and we extend our thanks to those who have helped make this possible.

We would also like to thank Council for a new electric roller door to one of the truck bays. It sure beats getting a ladder out, engaging the chain, and opening the door when responding !

A further update to follow !

Nerong Fire : Saturday 21 Feb 26

Wootton 9 : Adam Garnett Capt, Paul Bacon BF

Another shift at the Nerong Fire initially patrolling & blacking out the Voltage & Grassy Sectors with Tea Gardens 7 under National Parks Divcom.

As the temp climbed, the fire continually flared up as unburnt sections within the fireground ignited sending up thick smoke that completely blocked out the highway at Nerong Water Holes. This had us scrambling from one end of the sectors to the other as we monitored the flare ups.

It also prompted a late afternoon 000 call with Bulahdelah, Pindimar, and others responding as it was reported that the fire had jumped the highway.

National Parks Divcom, Wootton 9, and Bulahdelah 9 searched the area but could not find anything so inbound brigades were stood down and we went back to patrolling & blacking out whilst we watched a storm front go right around us ! After things had settled down, we were released from the fireground in the early evening, refuelled at Bulahdelah, and back in the shed around 1930.
