Great Community Spirit

The Wonthaggi Woodcrafters, (better known as Woodies) recently donated four planter boxes for Rose Lodge’s dementia specific unit (Rose Cottage). The framing is hardwood messmate machined from wall framing timbers that were in the old lemonade factory. The veneered board was donated by a local cabinet maker who was retiring. The timber finished in Danish oil.

The Woodies started in Wonthaggi over 35 years ago. Woodies is a group of people who are passionate about all types of woodworking. The club has a great community spirit amongst the members, and this community spirit extends to the broader Wonthaggi community.

Quote from club Secretary David Carlos: “Rose Lodge is an important part of our community and has been for more than 60 years. It has cared for people when they struggle to care for themselves. We were so pleased to have this opportunity to design and make these planter boxes for Rose Cottage”.

Pictured below are the people who worked on this project are Lex Van Sanne, Neil Lenne, David Carlos and Michael Bladen with two residents Tony Adams and Stephen Rosendale (a former Woodies member) and Jenny Bonell the Corporate Services Manager who could not be happier with the finished project.
