Introducing our June 2026 Film of the Month; written, directed, produced and edited by Christopher Thomas Henry Daw.

Lifting Legends: Raymond McLaren is a commemorative documentary honouring Raymond McLaren, founder of Andromeda Industries and the inaugural recipient of the LEEA Lifting Legend Award.

Raymond’s career began with a simple curiosity about knots, splicing, and the mechanics of how things work. That curiosity became a lifetime of invention, from mobile sling-making across regional New South Wales to the design and manufacture of machines that helped advance lifting equipment production and performance. His contribution extends beyond engineering. Raymond has played a role in the development of Australian standards for slings and rigging gear, championed quality and integrity across the industry, and shared his knowledge generously with colleagues, students, customers, community groups, and the wider lifting sector.

We’d love to invite you to a special sneak peek screening of new films from the TIDES project.

This work has been created by young people from the Bundaleer Housing Estate, who have been exploring one powerful question: How did we get here?

📆 Tuesday 2nd June, 5:30PM
📍 Gala Cinema Warrawong
🎟️ Free to attend

RSVP via this form: https://forms.cloud.microsoft/pages/responsepage.aspx?id=ccaUtNPjC0uRm0P3VzCz4XVvaLEXhXJOnG0wdZbdUcJUNkxaMERQUTMxUk1MTkIzSVZBM0w1NzBOTyQlQCN0PWcu&route=shorturl

Together, they’ve been working alongside Elders, artists and community members to tell stories of culture, identity, and belonging- stories that are rarely seen or heard on screen.

At this screening, you’ll see:
• Nhandi: a moving, intergenerational film about arrival and colonisation, created with South Coast Elders and young people
• Early sneak peeks from three new TIDES stories, including a Filipino family story across three generations, a story of care and community from Peru, and a local story of students standing up for their Aboriginal support teacher

Your presence in the audience makes a real difference. It shows these young storytellers that their voices matter and that their stories are worth hearing.
