Tropic Twirlers - Cairns

🤧 CLASS CANCELLED TODAY! 🤧

Unfortunately, your Caller is sick!

I really hate cancelling dancing, and I seriously considered pushing through my snuffles, but the last thing I want to do is share my germs with everyone else! Some things are better kept to myself. 🤧

Please accept my apologies for the late notice, and enjoy this beautiful Sunday we’ve been given. ☀️🌴

Looking forward to seeing everyone back on the dance floor next week, hopefully with a healthy Caller and a little more spring in my step!

💚 Everybody counts — even when the Caller is down for the count!

A public holiday long weekend made today’s dance a little interesting, with quite a few of our regulars taking the opportunity to get away. 🌴☀️

Fortunately, our new learners were on deck and ready to dance — and it was especially lovely to welcome Irmgard and Wulf, visiting Cairns from Germany, who came along to dance with us. 🇩🇪💃🕺

Square dancing really does travel with you wherever you go. Find a local club, walk through the door and you’ve almost got a cheat code for meeting the locals when you’re visiting somewhere new. 🌏

And a very special thank you to Chris for stepping in and helping us make up the numbers today. Your willingness to jump in and support our new dancers was very much appreciated. 💚

A smaller group just meant more dancing, more practice and nowhere to hide when the Caller said, “Square your sets!” 😄

Thanks to everyone who joined us for another fun Sunday afternoon at Tropic Twirlers.

There’s plenty happening around Cairns today, with markets on in Gordonvale and Palm Cove — so make a day of it!

Grab a coffee, wander the markets, enjoy the morning… then come and socialise with us this afternoon. 💃🕺

Our latest Five Week Discover Modern Square Dancing program started last Sunday, but it’s definitely not too late to join us. Come along today and we’ll help you catch up.

No experience. No partner. No fancy footwork.
Just friendly people, plenty of laughs and something a little different to try.

We’ll also have some Beginner Line Dancing between the squares. 🎶

😂 We’re not saying square dancing would fix everything… but it couldn’t hurt.

A couple of hours of laughs, movement, good company and trying to remember what the Caller just said. 😆

Never tried it? Come and have a go.

🕑 Sundays | 2–4pm
📍 Masonic Lodge Hall, 21 Hartill St, Edmonton

Square dancing is for everyone. 💚

🎉 NEW BEGINNER CLASSES START SUNDAY 27 SEPTEMBER! 🎉

Looking for something social, active and just a little bit different? Come and discover Modern Square Dancing!

Square dancing is all about people connecting. Eight dancers work together as a team, listening and responding to the Caller, who tells you what to do next. There’s plenty of movement, plenty of laughter, and you’ll be surprised how quickly it all starts to come together!

💚 Never danced before? Perfect!
If you can walk, you can learn to square dance. We’ll teach you everything from the beginning.

💚 Don’t have a partner? You don’t need one!
Some people come with their partner, family or a friend — but plenty arrive on their own. However you come, you’ll be warmly welcomed and we’ll get you dancing.

Our next Discover Modern Square Dancing program for new learners begins:

📅 Sunday 27 September
🕑 2:00–4:00pm
📍 Masonic Lodge Hall, 21 Hartill Street, Edmonton
💲 $50 per new learner for the first five weeks

🤔 Curious, but not quite ready to commit?

Come and have a look! Drop in today from 2pm, or join us at our Open House next Sunday. Meet the dancers, see what modern square dancing actually looks like and discover whether it might be your kind of fun.

No experience. No partner. No fancy footwork.

Just come as you are — we’ll show you the rest. 💃🕺
