Is a multicultural Visionary in Arts and Design – A proud descendant of the Miriam Mer Samsep people, Lee is a multicultural Australian artist, producer, and leader. Graduating with Honors from RMIT in 2010, lee earned a Bachelor of Design (Fashion) and in May 2025, was awarded an honorary doctorate from the University of Technology, Sydney.
Lee’s artistic journey began with the traditional technique of “grasshopper weaving,” passed down by her mentor, Dr. Uncle Ken Thaiday. This foundation evolved into her distinctive style of small and large-scale body sculptures, seamlessly blending contemporary aesthetics with traditional practices. Her woven creations tell family stories, honours her lineage, and evokes hope, while her innovative methods propel cultural expression into the future.
After founding First Nations Fashion Design (FNFD) in 2017 lee went on to be named Indigenous Designer of the Year at the Australian Fashion Laureate Award following a successful collaboration with Jean Paul Gaultier on a custom costume for the Australian premiere of his autobiographical show “Fashion Freakshow,” which significantly boosted her international profile in 2024.
Lee made history in 2025 being the first Indigenous Australian to independently present a couture collection during Paris Couture Fashion Week with a 9-piece collection titled ‘the Guardian’s’.

“This collection was a reflection of my soul, my family, and my connection to Country. It’s about weaving culture into couture — and opening space for new stories to be seen and heard on the world stage.”

Butchulla, Woppaburra and Lardil
is a commanding force in cultural couture and contemporary fashion, born
from over three decades of cultural practice, performance and storytelling.
Founded by Samala Thakialee Cronin in 2023, the label embodies survival, strength
and sovereignty – transforming traditional materials and cultural knowledge into
couture that is both striking and delicate, reflecting the strength and softness of
creation and the matriarchy.
Emerging from a foundation of grassroots activism and climate advocacy, grounded
in calls for LANDBACK, MumRed has rapidly risen to international prominence.
The label has opened major runways, captivated global audiences, and in 2025 was
honoured with an International Design Award for fashion, recognising its innovative,
culturally driven approach to design.
Unapologetic and visionary, MumRed continues to challenge the fashion industry,
creating space for First Nations representation on its own terms.

KingKing Creative was founded by Gurindji/Waanyi sisters Tarisse & Sarrita King, after successful 20 year art careers. Our brand aims to bring the beauty, the connection and the stories of our deadly culture into everyday life.

Photographer

As second generation Aboriginal artists, we created an avenue to express our stories in fashion, accessories and homewares. We are bringing a fresh & authentic look at Aboriginal art and storytelling in to a space that is dominated by non Indigenous owned businesses. Country, Community and Culture are at the forefront of our whole collection and career.

It is about being loud and proud to be Blak. Sharing our beautiful perspective of the world from an Indigenous point of view. We want to see our own mob & allies repping our clothing whilst feeling deadly and fashionable.
