Friends Of Warrandyte State Park The aim of our group is to foster awareness of native flora and to assist the Parks Victoria Rangers in the care and protection of Warrandyte State Park.

Our Group also runs an indigenous plant nursery on Pound Bend Road. Tubes $2.50 for non members $2.00 for members. Specialty plants and larger pots $8 -$15

Last week I opened the wire ring to see how our experiment to create leaf mould from eucalyptus leaves had gone. This week it’s moved to a cooler shadier spot, relined with thicker brickies plastic that doesn’t have a million holes and it had a bucket of water on top to weight down the decomposing leaves. Fingers crossed it stays wetter this time.

The plants are ready for the Warrandyte riverside market this Saturday. FOWSP nursery will be open 9-1 pm.

Today I opened the plastic lined, wire ring that I have been putting excess gum leaves into for the past two years. The idea being to turn them into leaf mould. It needs to be kept wetter or longer for true leaf mould so I’ll put the ring into a shady spot but the process was pretty successful for our needs. Read the photo captions for explanations.

🤝 Last Thursday the TAGs gave a helping hand to the Parks Victoria rangers to plant 200 indigenous plants at Pound Bend.

This project is able to be completed thanks to a grant acquittal from Melbourne Water
