A huge thank you to the Griffith Lions Club for their generous $1,000 donation to Country Hope.

Family Liaison Officer Yvette was delighted to attend the Club’s changeover dinner last night and accept this wonderful contribution, from the new committee led by President Christine, on behalf of the families we support across Griffith and the wider Riverina.

As a community-funded charity, support from local service clubs like the Griffith Lions Club helps us continue providing practical and financial assistance to children diagnosed with cancer or other life-threatening illnesses, and their families.

Thank you for helping us give relief when it matters most. 💙💛

Last year’s Country Hope Camp at Howmans Gap Alpine Discovery Camp gave us moments that still stick with us - especially watching kids step far outside their comfort zones.

Here you can see courage in real time: small teams learning to trust each other, encouraging every shaky step, and celebrating every climb a little higher than the last. It’s not just about getting to the top - it’s about getting there together.

There’s hesitation, laughter, deep breaths… and then those incredible bursts of confidence when a child realises, “I can actually do this.”

This is what Country Hope Camp is all about: creating space for connection, resilience, and experiences that help young people grow in ways that last long after they head home.

🤝 End of Financial Year Giving 🤝

When a Riverina child is diagnosed with cancer or another life-threatening illness, life changes in an instant.

For many families, the road ahead is filled with uncertainty, long hospital stays in Sydney, time away from work, and the emotional toll of navigating the unimaginable.

Country Hope is here to give relief when it matters most.

As a community-funded organisation, we receive no government funding. Every service we provide is made possible by the generosity of local people, businesses and community groups supporting local families through some of the toughest days of their lives.

As Country Hope mum Kristy shared:

“Country Hope has given us practical financial support, but more importantly it has given our family a loving community of people with shared experience and understanding.”

That sense of community is something your donation helps create.

As 30 June approaches, we invite you to make a tax-deductible donation and help ensure no family faces this journey alone. https://www.countryhope.com.au/donation-online

Together, we’re giving relief when it matters most.

💙 Thank you, Griffith 💙

A coin here, a note there… it might not seem like much at the time, but together it makes a real difference.

Today, our Family Liaison Officer Yvette collected $656.30 from donation tins at Bertoldos, Peeches Coffee Lounge, Danny’s Store and East Griffith Pharmacy.

Every contribution helps Country Hope provide practical and emotional support to local families facing the unimaginable when a child is diagnosed with cancer or another life-threatening illness.

To the businesses who host our tins, and the customers who drop in their spare change, thank you. Your generosity helps us continue to give relief when it matters most.

When 15-year-old Forbes teen Maddie was diagnosed with a rare liver tumour known as Hepatocellular Neoplasm in March 2025, life changed in an instant.

Just four days after receiving the devastating diagnosis, Maddie was airlifted to Sydney by air ambulance and admitted to The Children’s Hospital at Westmead, where she immediately began intensive chemotherapy.

For Maddie and her family, the months that followed would test them in ways they could never have imagined.

While her dad remained at home caring for their three other children, Maddie and her mum relocated to Ronald McDonald House Greater Western Sydney, which became their home for the next nine months. Their days revolved around treatment schedules, hospital appointments and the relentless cycle of recovery that follows intensive chemotherapy.

Despite the physical and emotional challenges, Maddie approached every day with remarkable courage.

Now, 13 months into her journey, she continues to demonstrate incredible determination and gentle strength. Through countless hospital visits, treatment setbacks and long periods away from home, Maddie has remained positive, resilient, and known for greeting those around her with a warm smile.

Following intensive treatment, Maddie underwent a life-saving liver transplant in September 2025. Just three weeks later, she resumed chemotherapy, continuing a demanding treatment schedule of five consecutive days every 28 days.

Throughout this journey, Country Hope has been proud to stand beside Maddie and her family, helping ease some of the practical and financial pressures that come with a serious childhood illness.

Support from community fundraising and events like the Riverina Outback Rally and the Wagga Wagga Amateur Picnic Race Club racesplays a vital role in making this possible.

As of June 2026, Country Hope is supporting 138 children and their families across regional communities.

While her journey is not yet over, Maddie’s courage continues to inspire everyone around her. Her resilience, positivity and unwavering spirit are a powerful reminder of the strength shown by so many regional children and families facing the unimaginable.
