The Brain Foundation is honoured to introduce the Fishing for Kyan Aneurysm Research Award, established in memory of Kyan Armstrong, who was just 15 years old when he passed away unexpectedly from a brain aneurysm in October 2022.
Kyan was a kind young man who loved fishing, playing AFL, working on his 1950's truck, and spending time with his family and mates in his home town of Wagga Wagga.
Following his passing, his family established FishingforKyan to bring the community together, raise funds for aneurysm research, and honour his legacy through hope and awareness.
This year, the Brain Foundation is proud to support our mission by funding much-needed research into cerebral aneurysms.

💙 Happy Heavenly 19th Birthday Kyan 💙

Today we celebrate what would have been Kyan’s 19th birthday, a day that should be filled with so many more memories, milestones, and moments together.
Kyan will always be forever 15, and while time continues to pass, the love we have for him never changes. Not a day goes by that he isn’t missed.
Fish4Kyan was created to keep his memory alive, to honour who he was, and to continue raising awareness for brain aneurysms so other families don’t have to experience the same heartbreak.
We are so grateful for the support we continue to receive, every event, every donation, every share helps us keep Kyan’s name and story alive.
Today, we remember, we celebrate, and we hold him close in everything we do. 💙
Forever loved. Forever missed. 🎣
