🌿 It’s an exciting time as we move into the final planning stages for the 2026 Bluff Community Planting Festival!

Today, City of Victor Harbor representative Bronson met with Biodiversity Victor Harbor member Geoff at The Bluff to survey the planting site and finalise the best placement for each native species. Carefully matching species to location helps give each plant the best possible chance of survival and long-term growth.

The next stage is to pre-dig the planting holes and prepare and distribute the seedlings — so when you arrive, the hard work will already be done. That leaves the best part for you… the planting! 🌱

We’d love you to join us in helping to beautify The Bluff and strengthen biodiversity at this iconic and much-loved local landmark. In years to come, you’ll be able to look out over the landscape and know you played a part in restoring it for future generations.

🌼 Come along, get your hands in the soil, and be part of something meaningful.

Last week, Nangkita property owner Helen collected her plants from the Biodiversity Victor Harbor nursery. Helen is the first of a number of landholders to receive seedlings that will contribute to restoring vegetation impacted by the recent bushfire.

Biodiversity Victor Harbor is pleased to be able to donate native seedlings to property owners in Nangkita and Deep Creek who have been affected by the fire. These locally grown plants will play an important role in helping to stabilise landscapes, support habitat recovery, and re-establish local biodiversity.

It’s a small but meaningful step in the longer journey of ecological recovery across the fire-affected area.

Our 2026 Bluff Community Planting Festival is just 2 weeks away! 🌱🌿

Everything is set for another fantastic morning of planting as we work together to enhance the beauty of The Bluff, strengthen local nature corridors, and support the incredible biodiversity of our region 🐦🦋

A huge thank you to the Victor Harbor Council and the many community groups who have been working behind the scenes to get everything prepared—the site is ready, and our 2,500 native seedlings are looking amazing and ready to go into the ground! 🌱✨

Now all we need is YOU 🙌

If you can spare a few hours on the morning of Saturday, June 27, we’d love you to join us in planting these seedlings and helping shape a healthier, greener future for our local environment. It’s a great day out for all ages and abilities—bring your friends, bring your family, and get involved!

Last year’s inaugural event brought together 110 amazing volunteers 💚 Let’s see if we can beat that number this year!

Today, members of Biodiversity Victor Harbor joined representatives from the City of Victor Harbor, state government organisations, First Nations communities, and a range of regional environmental organisations for the launch of the 2026 Southern Fleurieu Coastal Action Plan.

This is the first updated plan since 2007, and it brings together the latest research on the region’s coastal flora and fauna, along with an updated understanding of the key pressures affecting our coastline. Importantly, it also outlines priority actions needed to support the long-term health, resilience, and sustainability of this unique and much-loved part of the Southern Fleurieu.

The launch marks an important step forward in coordinated coastal management, grounded in current science, local knowledge, and collaborative stewardship of our natural environment.

Attention farmers 🚜and landholders 🚜 across Victor Harbor and the Fleurieu Peninsula, particularly those with a Native Vegetation Heritage Agreement 🦔🌿.

As planting season continues, our nursery is now completing the final dispatches of the 25/26 propagation season. These orders represent another successful year of growing locally sourced native tubestock for restoration and revegetation projects across our region.

Planning is now underway for the 26/27 propagation season, and we encourage landholders to get their orders in early. Early planning helps ensure we can grow the right species, in the right quantities, for your property and project needs.

If you would like Biodiversity Victor Harbor to propagate native plants for your property, please get in touch with our nursery team at [email protected].

On the evening of World Environment Day, 5 June 2026, the Conservation SA SA Environment Awards brought together an inspiring showcase of environmental leadership from across the state.

It was particularly encouraging to see strong representation from the Victor Harbor region, with Investigator College and Phytoplankton of South Australia - Recovery named as finalists in the Working Together Award category. In addition, local community member Mark Richards was recognised as a finalist for the Pelzer Prize.

For a regional community, these results reflect the depth of environmental commitment and collaboration happening locally—we are certainly punching above our weight.

Congratulations to all finalists for their outstanding contributions to protecting and restoring our natural environment.

On World Environment Day, 5 June 2026, members of Biodiversity Victor Harbor were pleased to attend the celebration hosted by Kumarangk Hindmarsh Island Landcare Group Inc marking a remarkable milestone—750,000 plants established on Hindmarsh Island.

This outstanding achievement reflects decades of dedicated on-ground effort to restore habitat, strengthen nature corridors, and support the return of biodiversity across the island.

Congratulations to all members, past and present, whose sustained commitment has helped make this restoration work possible.
