Winter’s here… and honestly, it’s the season local businesses feel it most.
If you’re in Victor Harbor, Port Elliot, Middleton, Mount Compass or Goolwa, supporting local doesn’t have to be a big “thing”. It can be simple, regular, and community-minded.
This week, make it your mini mission to:
- Pop in for a coffee instead of driving past
- Grab a toasted sandwich from a local café (bonus points if you sit for 10 minutes and actually enjoy it)
- Buy the gift card, the book, the loaf of bread, the takeaway dinner, the little “I was going to order it online” item… locally
And if you’re a business owner, winter is also a good time to lean into something we don’t do enough of: showing up for each other.
Not in a formal networking way. Just real-life community stuff:
- Walk in and say g’day
- Give someone a quick check-in
- A wave through the window
- A “How are you going?” and a 2-minute chat when it’s quiet
- A simple “If you need anything, yell out.”
Because small towns run on relationships. And the businesses that last are the ones that feel backed by their community and by each other.
So if you’re out and about this week, rug up… then choose one local place to support.
