Tonight Legacy held their 3rd debutante ball for this year.
There were couples from Lumen Christi and Eden High and what a delightful group they were.

Our Guest of Honour was the beautiful Jess O’Donnell escorted by her husband Nathan.
What a wonderful and inspiring speech she gave to the debutantes.

Matron of Honour was Legacy War Widow Mrs Robyn Bedford.

Huge thank you to Sam and Raymond McGovern who make this night something spectacular by teaching the group their 3 dances.

Thank you to my partner in crime Legatee Debbie Hall assisting with the MC.
Enjoy the photos.

On Friday 1st May and Saturday 2nd May the 49th Legacy Debutante Ball was held at the Merimbula RSL Club.

We were honoured to present the girls and their partners to the Guest of Honour Mr Mick Pryke, Chair of the local fundraising group Mumbulla Foundation. Mick’s wife Nellie also attended with Mick.
Mick gave a wonderful speech to the group of how ‘the discipline of the dance’ can guide them through their future and how their generation will pave the way for exciting times.

The Matrons of Honour were of course our gorgeous Legacy War Widows, Mrs Trish Denaro and Mrs Deb Manning.

All the girls looked stunningly beautiful in their long white gowns and gloves and the boys were also very handsome.
I am sure there were many parents with tears in their eyes.

Huge thank you must go to Samara and Raymond McGovern, this was their 21st year of organising the ball and teaching the group their 3 dances.
Sam and Raymond not only have 3 children , their own business and both are also members of the rural fire service.

Thank you to Angi High Photography and her assistant Debbie for the professional photos taken. The are a lot better than taken by me on my iPhone.

DJ Grey Graham Lewis for providing the music that the girls picked for their presentation and of course the music for the night. (See videos)

Backstreet Bakery for the very chocolatey and finger licking cake.

Little Bouquet for the girls flowers

And finally thank you to Merimbula RSL Club and their staff not only the support of the Deb Ball but many other functions that we hold there including Sunday Bingo.

The 3rd night of the Legacy Debutante Ball is in Saturday 16th May.
Stay tuned for photos.

Celebrations for Far South Coast Legacy Christmas lunch were in full swing today at Merimbula RSL.
The ‘best lunch ever’ was served by the friendly staff and empty plates were everywhere.
A huge thank you to Merimbula RSL and their staff who support us every year, whether it is Bingo, Laurel Club or Legacy. Without them we would not function as we do.
Thank you to Elaine Heath, Chair of Far South Coast Legacy for her Leadership and guidance and the Legatees that give care and love to our 49 war widows.

We wish everyone a happy and safe Christmas.

A large number of people gathered at a memorial to pay tribute to Merimbula Sub Branch President Allan Browning, who passed away unexpectedly. Allan's brother, Ian, shared anecdotes about Allan's youth, eliciting a chuckle when he revealed Allan's nickname was 'Porky'.
According to his brother, Allan was a kind and generous individual.
Phil Cheek spoke about Allan's naval service and his time on the aircraft carrier Melbourne. He will be deeply missed.
Stand easy, Sailor.
