🌟 Tonight is the night! 🌟

Our girl Alkira is at the Taronga Zoo Sydney tonight for the NSW Top Tour Guide Awards!

We couldn’t be prouder to see her named a Top Tour Guide finalist, representing Eden LALC, Eden, the Sapphire Coast and Aboriginal cultural tourism on the state stage.

An incredible achievement and so well deserved. ❤️

Connecting Cultural Fire to Sea Country 🌊🔥

This week, Eden Local Aboriginal Land Council rangers are proud to be taking part in the Firesticks Southern Yuin - Gadhu Bagan Sea Country Workshop, being held from 21–23 July 2026 on the Far South Coast of NSW 🗓️🌏.

The three-day workshop brings together cultural knowledge holders, practitioners, and land managers to explore the connection between Cultural Fire, the coastline, and the ocean 🌅🤝, with a shared vision of returning Cultural Fire to the coastal headlands of Southern Yuin Country.

Representing Eden LALC are Nikeysha Landsborough, Noah Emmerson, and Kye Lygon, who are building their knowledge and skills through a range of cultural workshop sessions while strengthening connections with other Aboriginal practitioners from across the region 🤗🌿.

By investing in cultural knowledge and practice, we are helping to care for Country in ways that have sustained our landscapes and communities for countless generations 🌱❤️.

We thank the Firesticks Southern Yuin Gadhu Bagan team for hosting this important workshop and for sharing their knowledge and leadership 🙏✨.

We hope you've all had a deadly week celebrating 50 Years of NAIDOC Week! 🎉✨ What an incredible milestone, honouring the strength, resilience, cultures and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples over the past five decades. 🌿
Due to our Keeping Place currently being under construction, we've made the decision to postpone our NAIDOC School and Community Event Days.

Today we are incredibly proud to share that Alkira Aldridge has been named a Finalist in the 2026 NSW Top Tour Guide Awards.

Since joining Eden LALC in 2022, Alkira has grown into an exceptional leader within our organisation and recently stepped into her new role as Tourism Coordinator / Senior Ranger. As our longest-serving staff member, we have had the privilege of watching her confidence, leadership and cultural knowledge continue to grow.

Alkira is committed to her community, her culture and her Country. Whether she is sharing stories on the Bilbaan Cultural Experience, mentoring other staff members, caring for Country, supporting cultural programs or representing our community through tourism, she does so with pride, humility and generosity.

Everything we do at Eden LALC is about creating opportunities for our people while strengthening culture, connection and community, and Alkira embodies these values every day.

To see one of our own recognised at a state level is incredibly special, and we are honoured to walk alongside her on this journey.
