⚠️ IMPORTANT UPDATE FOR VETERANS & FAMILIES ⚠️

Big changes are coming to how DVA compensation claims work — and every veteran needs to know about this before 1 July 2026.

📋 WHAT'S CHANGING?
From 1 July 2026, the three laws that cover veterans' compensation (VEA, DRCA and MRCA) are being simplified into ONE — an improved Military Rehabilitation and Compensation Act (MRCA). This is the biggest change to veterans' legislation in decades.

🗓️ WHICH LAW CURRENTLY COVERS YOU?
• Served AFTER 1 July 2004 → MRCA
• Served BEFORE 1 July 2004 → VEA and/or DRCA
• Service that spans both → could be all three

✅ WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
• Payments you're already receiving will NOT be cut — they continue and are indexed as normal
• Claims already lodged but not yet decided will be processed under the new system
• Veterans on DRCA incapacity payments will automatically move to the more generous MRCA payments — no action needed
• Whether to lodge a claim before or after 1 July depends on YOUR individual circumstances — there's no one-size-fits-all answer

💡 WHAT SHOULD YOU DO?
If you have an unresolved claim, are thinking about lodging, or aren't sure how this affects you — speak to a veterans' advocate BEFORE 30 June 2026.

The Tewantin Noosa RSL Sub Branch has recently completed the renovation of Bush pathways in the RSL Section of the Tewantin Cemetery. The works were expertly undertaken by local emerging Landscaping firm JDC Solutions to remediate the impacts of erosion and improve pedestrian safety. Funds to undertake the project were generously provided through the Anzac Day Trust Fund administered by the Queensland Veterans Council. The Sub Branch remains grateful to the QLD State Government for their enduring support to Veterans and their wellbeing.
