The purpose of this page is to keep you up-to-date with Macarthur District

When fire impacted the community of Koolewong on the NSW Central Coast in December of 2025 it moved so quickly that people only had minutes to make life saving decisions.

Residents Elise, Paul and Chui Yin were all in their homes that day and reflect on the decisions they made and the actions they took as the fire impacted their community.

Their experiences provide valuable insights into the importance of understanding your risk and knowing what you will do when fire threatens.

ADVICE means a fire has started. There is no immediate
danger. Stay up to date in case the situation changes.

WATCH AND ACT means there is a heightened level of
threat. Conditions are changing and you need to start
taking action to protect you and your family.

EMERGENCY WARNING is the highest level of
alert. You may be in danger and need to take action
immediately. Any delay puts your life at risk.
