The National Disability Insurance Scheme Amendment (Securing the NDIS for Future Generations) Bill 2026 means there will be some changes.

We will do our best to keep you informed about these changes, but it always good to make sure you are also subscribed to NDIS updates. You can subscribe via the NDIS website:

https://www.ndis.gov.au/news

One of the upcoming changes affects both providers and participants. From December 2026 participants, providers and plan managers will need to make a claim within 90 days of an NDIS support being delivered.

This tighter time frame will make budgeting plan funds easier because participants will know their provider invoices are up to date, and there are no late surprises!

NDIS Made Simple: What happens after you submit an invoice?

Ever wondered what happens once an invoice is sent to your Plan Manager?

There are several steps that happen before payment reaches your provider:

1. Invoice review
We check that the invoice includes the required details and matches your NDIS Plan and available funding. Sending back invoices that need corrections to the provider straight away.

2. Budget check
We confirm that the support aligns with your plan and that there is funding available in the correct category and funding period.

3. Payment processing
Once approved by you, the invoice is processed through the NDIS payment system and unless the NDIS asks for additional information a couple of days later, payment is made to your provider, including a remittance sent for their records.

4. Budget updates
Your spending information is updated in real-time so you can keep track of how your funding is being used.

At Plan-Net SA, we aim to make the process simple and transparent, while ensuring participants have visibility of their budgets through Caresquare.

For participants:
• Know where your funding is being used
• Stay informed about your available budget
• Feel confident your invoices are being managed correctly

For providers:
• Clear communication
• Efficient invoice processing
• A plan management partner who values strong relationships

Plan management is more than paying invoices – it is about supporting informed choices and better outcomes.

NDIS Made Simple: What should I do if my funding isn’t enough?

Sometimes your circumstances change, your support needs increase, or your NDIS funding may not be enough to cover the supports you need throughout your plan.

If you are worried that your funding may not last, don’t wait until it runs out.

Here are some steps you can take:

📌Check your budget – understand what funding you have remaining and where it is being used
📌Talk to your support coordinator or providers – they can help review your current supports and options
📌Keep records – noting changes in your circumstances or support needs can help if you need to discuss your plan
📌Contact the NDIA if your needs have changed – they can advise on the next steps

At Plan-Net SA, we can help you understand your budget position and provide clear information so you can make informed decisions.

We are here to help you navigate your NDIS journey with confidence.

NDIS Made Simple: How do I know if I’m on track with my NDIS budget?

✔Ask questions early – don’t wait until funding is almost gone before seeking advice

At Plan-Net SA, we make it easier to stay informed with:

✔Regular statements
✔Access to your plan information through CareSquare
✔A local team who is here to answer your questions

NDIS Made Simple: What happens if I overspend my funding?

Managing an NDIS budget can sometimes feel confusing – especially when you are trying to balance your supports, your goals, and your available funding.

So, what happens if you spend more than what is available in your NDIS plan or funding period?

If your funding runs out:
📌Your plan manager cannot pay invoices once there is no available funding in that category
📌Providers may not be able to continue delivering supports unless another arrangement is made
📌You may need to wait until your next plan or discuss your options with the NDIA

The good news? Overspending can often be avoided by regularly checking your budget and understanding how your funding is tracking.

At Plan-Net SA, we help participants stay informed with:
✔Clear budget visibility
✔Regular statements and updates
✔Easy access to your spending information through CareSquare
✔Support to understand where your funding is being used

Your NDIS plan is there to support your goals, keeping track of your budget helps you make confident choices along the way.

Claiming an NDIS reimbursement? Here’s how to avoid delays!

If you have already paid for an NDIS support or item and would like to be reimbursed for, sending the right documents the first time helps us process your claim as quickly as possible.

📌A tax invoice or receipt
📌Proof of payment (if it’s not shown on the invoice)

Before making a purchase, it is always a good idea to check with us if you are unsure whether it can be claimed through your NDIS plan. A quick chat beforehand can save disappointment later.

The most common reason reimbursements are delayed is missing paperwork – so sending everything together means you will get your reimbursement sooner!

If you are ever unsure what you need, we are only a phone call or email away. We are always happy to help.

Proposed Changes to NDIS Community Participation Funding

You may have seen recent updates about proposed changes to NDIS funding for Social, Civic and Community Participation.

From 1 October 2026, the Australian Government has announced that, as plans are renewed or reassessed, funding in this area is expected to be reviewed to bring spending more in line with earlier funding levels and create greater consistency across the Scheme.

It is important to remember:

📌Your current plan does not change today
📌Changes will happen progressively as plans are reviewed
📌Every participant’s plan is individual, so the impact may be different for everyone

If you have an upcoming plan review, it is a good idea to talk with your support team about how your supports help you achieve your goals and independence.

At Plan-Net SA, we will continue to keep you informed and support you through any changes. If you have any questions, we are always here to help.
