It's a checklist Tuesday as we move into the colder months and work through our list of things to do before Jack Frost visits for the first time!

Have you got heating sorted? Will you be using wood gas or electricity to heat your house?

How are you going for warm clothes? Have you got hats scarf and gloves? You will need them!

How will you keep the heat inside your house? Draft stoppers and thick curtains go a long way to keeping your heating bills down!

It's 13° at Purling Brook at the moment and 11° at Canyon. The rain can't make up its mind if it's coming or going but it did leave 8mm in the gauge at Purling Brook overnight. It's going to keep raining like this all week and then get worse in the weekend... Currently there's 10 and 20mm predicted for Saturday and Sunday...

Remember to add to your checklist to allow extra time on the roads with the roadworks kicking off for another six months on the 11th!!

Get out your checklist and get organised this Tuesday. Winter is just around the corner!

*Men's Shed is open from 9am to revel in their successful sausage sizzle over a cuppa this morning. Come and hear all the war stories about sausages onions bread and cans of fizz on Sunday. Fascinating stuff!

*It's School Library Day. Remember your book bag and return last week's book!

*Skate Park Day for school kids 3pm to 4pm this arvo. Byo wheels, parents and a snack. Great chance to catch up with other families!

*Shanghai Darts Club meet 7pm at the hall for serious darts games on professional boards. Byo darts. All skill levels welcome. Just turn up!

*SES training 7pm usually at the SES shed behind the hall. Contact Jan on 0427570812 for more info if you are planning on heading there tonight!

📰 You've sent your Voices article, haven't you?

🧸 Please do the right thing at the Emporium and don't put anything there that won't fit on a shelf!

🚦 Remember roadworks will be starting on May 11th. Remember to add extra time to your trip down the hill!

🩹 Book in for our free Community First Aid session on Sunday May 24th 9am to 12pm and learn some skills to keep everybody safe!

Stay safe. Check your checklist!

Community Reference Group (CRG)
To support the next stage of planning, the City of Gold Coast Council are establishing a Community Reference Group (CRG) for the Springbrook Eaglemont Estate Master Plan. The CRG will bring together community members including landowners, local businesses and environmental representatives, to share local knowledge, perspectives and community priorities.
Over approximately 12 months (from June 2026), CRG members will:
• receive regular project updates
• provide feedback and local insights
• identify potential risks and opportunities
• contribute to discussions that help inform the master planning process.
The CRG will play an important advisory role, helping to ensure the plan reflects community values while supporting a sustainable and environmentally responsible future for Springbrook.
Meetings will be held in person (approximately 2 hours per session) at the Eaglemont Estate or the Springbrook Community Hall.

Express your interest in becoming a CRG member
We are seeking a diverse and balanced group of participants who reflect the Springbrook community and its wide range of perspectives.
CRG members will:
• stay informed about the project as it progresses
• share their knowledge, experiences and ideas
• help identify key issues, risks and opportunities
• contribute to discussions that help inform the direction of the master plan.
All members will receive an Induction Handbook and clear guidelines on how the group will operate.
If you are interested in participating, please complete the Expression of Interest form below.
Applicants are required to read the CRG Terms of Reference, which outline membership requirements. By submitting an Expression of Interest, applicants agree to accept and be bound by these terms.
Your input will help inform the future of Eaglemont Estate.
Expressions of interest to join the CRG are open from 11 May until 31 May 2026

A misty Monday has dawned on the mountain has our cloud doona returns with some drizzle this morning!

We've got 12° at Canyon and 15 atling Brook this morning so it's going to be much easier to get out of bed. The rain has started already with 2mm predicted for today. The predictions gradually increase a little each day to a maximum of 8mm on Wednesday and then holding steady with 5-6mm all the way through to Sunday... *sigh* all this drizzle is part of the fun and charm of living in Springbrook!

Hope you've got your firewood supply sorted or at least ordered when the rain goes it gets bitterly cold. Draft proofing your house is going to be a priority to stay warm once our cloud clears. Good time to invest in winter woollen underwear, hats, scarves and gloves. You will need them!

Please remember to get your Springbrook voices contributions in before Wednesday. One of our editors is heading overseas and would like it done and dusted before they leave. Email itin as soon as you finished it!

Be mesmerized by this Misty Monday as you look outside the window from the warmth of your cosy house today!

*Springbrook Voices Contributions due yesterday!

*Active travel to school day!

*Remember to order Tuck Shop for Friday lunch today!

*Playgroup at the school 9am to 11am. All littilies welcome. It's fun free and friendly and a great place to be in the rain this morning. Just turn up!

*Yoga practice, tonight, 6pm at the hall. Bring a jumper or a blanket for the relaxation at the end!

*Seen any thing that TMR needs to fix, amend or change? Email them, with photos on [email protected]

🚦Traffic Control starting up on both roads. Remember to allow extra time!

🩹 Have you signed up for the community first aid session on Sunday May 24th, 9am till 12 pm, at the hall?

🧸 Please do the right thing at the Emporium. No large items!!! If it won't fit on a shelf it shouldn't be there...

Stay safe. Figure out your winter heating!

Sundays can be subjective - it depends where you live on the mountain!

The parking yesterday was diabolical for many with business and locals suffering from the cars parking in ways that blocked roads, driveways and access. If you're a visitor, please walk an extra 50m and park sensibly. That ambulance that can get through maybe the one coming for you!

Put out your bins and signs and Cross your fingers that you can get in and out of your home and street today. It's Mother's Day and we are traditionally"quite busy" as people come up to celebrate their mums on the mountain on this special day!

Happy Mother's Day to all our mountain Mums who do so much for their kids, family and community. Our mountain wouldn't be the best place in the world to live with out you all. We hope you have a marvellous day and are all spoilt rotten!

We were hovering around 10° this morning at 7am and have a glorious day scheduled in for the last of the weekend. Get outside today and do all your outside jobs. Rain is heavily featured in plans for the coming week...

Make sure you check our main page for all the local goss and info just in case the algorithms don't take you there. Sunday is the day we post all our notices for the week. This week's includes locally grown flowers for sale that could be useful on a day like today!

This Sunday will be experienced subjectivly, depending on where you live today. Embrace your circumstances and vive la difference!

**MOTHERS DAY**

*There is a Mens Shed Sausage sizzle at the Robina Bunnings today, if your heading down the hill for peace and tranquillity!

*The Springbrook Tennis Club meet for a hit at the courts behind the hall at 9am-ish. Drop in for a game today!

*Speedtrap Sunday. And lots of 😘 st people on the roads. Take it easy out there!

*Echo Valley & The Frog Pond are both stocked up with veges and goodies for the week ahead!

*The Emporium has reopened in its new location. Please DO NOT put furniture in it, at all, in any capacity. We want to keep it!

🚦Road works will be starting up soon on both the Front and Back Roads. Allow at least 15mins extra for your trip!

Stay safe. Be patient.

NEXT SUNDAY. MAY 17th. 10am - 2pm. Village Green, Mudgeeraba!

Welcome to ‘Mudgeeraba Street Party & Parade’. We are incredibly excited about being able to bring our community back together this May in support of our many local businesses, sporting clubs, schools and groups.

There are a host of free activities to take part in – or local businesses to support including stalls and community displays. Plus some incredible music from local artists, we encourage everyone to come down and enjoy this free occasion.

I would like to thank all of the sponsors and businesses in getting behind this event, and recognise the various groups, community organisations, and attendees helping make this event a major celebration of our village here on the Gold Coast”.

Councillor Glenn Tozer – Division 9, City of Gold Coast.

Enjoy a party!
