It's gonna be a muddy Monday! Have you seen the weather forecast for this week? No one will be buying water by Friday!

This is a good time to make sure that you are storm ready. The water may not come in the form of a storm but this year amount that we will get this week could start bringing trees down... Be prepared for extended power outages and possible road closures, just in case!

We've got 14° at Purling Brook, and 12° at Canyon and Bilbourgh this morning, so not too chilly but we are only expecting a high of 16° and a ton of rain!

We should get around 10mm, probably 15mm and maybe 25mm today. And those are the least amounts where expecting. It's settling in for the week with most days expecting 25mm and then easing down to 10mm for the weekend. Make sure you check your favourite online weather guru and are prepared for the weather that is coming!

This is a good time to check in with your neighbours, and make sure you know where everyone is expected to be this week. Also make sure you have the CoGC Council dashboard link in your phone. It's the quickest way to find everything in one place when you need it!

Get your gumboots on and let's enjoy a muddy Monday, the first of a few muddy days to come this week!

So much to do this Sunday! If you've got kids going to camp this week, this is the day to be packing (especially M2 who has been chomping at the bit since camp was announced to start packing!)

It's also the day to get all your tickets for the big music weekend we have coming up! There's Small Halls down in Austinville on Friday night, World Beats Altered States Dance on Saturday night at the Springbrook Hall and we round off the weekend with a fundraising concert by Miller Moko on Sunday afternoon. There's definitely something for everyone music wise this weekend!

It's just over "normal temps" on the mountain this morning with 11-12° showing across the mountain. The cloud doona is keeping us warm, but wet this week. We haven't had as much rain as we had hoped, but we live in Springbrook and the rain will come(and stay for a while when it does!)

There was a still entry of rain predicted this coming week but don't let that stop you from enjoying school camp or one of the concerts this week. If you don't go out in the rain in Springbrook, you'll never go out at all!

App goes for the breakdown in broadcasts this week. It turns out that in the Central Highlands of Qld that limited connectivity actually means no internet what do ever. Peaceful, but not useful! We should be back in range now (ish) and community information should flow a little faster now!

Get yourself out of the house this weekend. Play a little tennis, bust a few w**ds and visit the Emporium. It's that kind of weekend with so much to do this Sunday!

*Springbrook Tennis Club meet for a hit at the courts behind the hall at 9am.

*Tip & Emporium are open 8am to 4.50pm today!

*WeedBusters, 9am-11am at the Settlement. Just turn up.

*Speedtrap Sunday.

*Echo Valley, Sophie's Stall and The Frog Pond are both open and restocked today!

Just take a photo and upload it to the council app (download it from Apple Store or Google Play) and report it.

That way it gets all the location info and an image of what the issue is.

The Springbrook Men's Shed is open on Tuesdays Thursdays and Saturdays from 9am-ish to 1pm-ish!

If you're new on the mountain, come along and say hi and enjoy the company of other blokes, work on projects or grow veges in your plot!

There's lots to do, cuppas to drink, biscuits to share and chat to he had. Feel free to drop in and join in anytime!

Miller Moko is a rising star in the Australian Americana music scene.

Born into country music royalty as the son of Melody and Michael Moko, he grew up surrounded by songcraft.

After recently graduating from the CMAA Academy in Tamworth, Miller has been gigging heavily across the circuit.

Now, the young multi-instrumentalist is bringing his powerhouse band (consisting of Mik Mccartin, Jeb Mccartin, and Michael Muchow) home to rock the Springbrook Hall, with 30% of all proceeds going towards Autism Queensland.

TODAY!! We are back at Carricks Creek this morning for some bush regen and prep for our Spring Planting coming in November. We will have a chat about plans for the 'Applied Nucleation' planting, prep the site, remove some w**ds competing with our natives and poison the Privets.

Bring along your gloves and enthusiasm. After we will share a cuppa and some morning tea, so it's a great way to meet others caring for nature.

9:10-11am - w**ding and prepping site for spring planting

Festival of Small Halls: coming to Mt Nimmel Hall, Austinville, on 23rd October

On 23rd October, from 6:30pm, Mt Nimmel Hall will be hosting Canadian singer song-writer Old Man Luedecke, Nicole Murray (Australia) and Gold Coast artist Amy John Roberts as part of the Festival of Small Halls 2026 Spring Tour.

Old Man Luedecke is a two-time JUNO award winning and Polaris prize nominated singer songwriter known for his high energy banjo driven stompers, touching guitar ballads and dry humorous stories. Nicole Murray is a singer and multi-instrumentalist who invites audiences to sing and play together, learning and connecting through harmony, traditional tunes and joyful participation. Amy John Robers combines the ambience of soft rock with the passion and power of great ballads. She can leave you feeling like she knows you better than you know yourself.

The cocktail of Woodford stirred up with Austinville makes for a great vibe and a lovely evening in our old rustic hall.

Fabulous well-loaded gourmet hamburgers will be available, the bar will be open and a sense of good cheer abundant.

This will be the ninth year that Mt Nimmel Hall has participated in the Festival of Small Halls and its always a great occasion.

🌱🥬🌿🍃 It's GREEN Bin night tonight! The Tip and Emporium are both open 7am to 4.50pm today and tomorrow!

Yoga restarts tomorrow, October 19th 6pm at the hall.

The next CoGC Council Mobile Library Truck visit will be outside Numinbah School 10.30am to 12.30pm, TOMORROW Monday October 19th. Great opportunity to get a book for Tuesday which will be a rainy day!

The Anglican Church holds a service at 9.30am at the Observatory on the 3rd Friday of the month. Just turn up!

Weedbusters! TODAY! 3rd Sunday of the month, 9am to 11am at the settlement. Come and walk n w**d! Wear gloves, a hat, covered in shoes and your own cuppa. Kids encouraged!

The Springbrook Men's Shed is open Tues, Thurs and Sat 9am to 1pm-ish at 2390 SB road. Pop in and say hi, have a cuppa and work on projects sometime!

Please stop and check pouches and if you find a joey, call WildCare on 5527 2444 any time of the night or day!

The Frog Pond vege stall has lots of fresh fruit, veges, alternative milks, bread and much more. Restocked on Saturdays. Open 8.30am to 5pm daily to the left of the Observatory entrance in its own wee shop now!

Wing Chung Kung Fu Classes for adults are on Thursdays, 5.30pm at the hall. Contact Gill on 0412306029 for more info

Skate Park Day for kids is Tuesdays, 3pm to 4.30pm. All local families welcome!

The Front Road WILL BE OPEN all weekend this weekend. Night closures are NOT planned for Sunday and Monday this week.

The Springbrook Waste and Recycling Centre and the Emporium are OPEN today and tomorrow. Get your green waste and extra recycling there free, in the next two days!
