Last Wednesday was a surprisingly powerful meeting built around one tiny word: “No.”

Table Topics delivered honest (and sometimes hilarious) reflections — from parenting dilemmas to regretting a “no”… and the times we really should have said it.

A rapid-fire debate — “Saying no to your boss is career suicide” — gave everyone 30 seconds to take a bold stand. Then came the hot seat: quick questions, sharp thinking, and clever use of the word of the day, “resistance.”

With thoughtful evaluations and great energy throughout, this two-letter theme created a seriously engaging night.

It was fantastic to have four guests in the room — your presence lifted the energy, and we loved having you join us.

Turns out, “no” can be pretty powerful.

Last week’s Toastmasters session (18/02/26) was a fantastic midday meeting filled with learning, leadership and laughter.

We had a themed meeting focused on vegetables, with a creative Toastmaster guiding the agenda. Members delivered self-introductions, participated in Table Topics (impromptu speaking), and heard two prepared speeches — including an educational presentation reviewing club practices and how we continue to grow and improve.

There was great audience participation, strong impromptu responses, and thoughtful evaluations. Even with smaller numbers, the energy was positive and supportive, showing the strength of our club culture.

📍 We meet every Wednesday
🕛 12:00pm – 1:00pm
🏛 Mudgeeraba Old Post Office Community Hall

Everyone is welcome. Come along and bring a friend!

Love was well and truly in the air at our Romance-themed GCHub Toastmasters meeting last week. 💘

From the very first gavel, the energy was warm, playful and full of connection. Everyone stepped into their roles seamlessly, creating a smooth, well-run meeting that flowed effortlessly from start to finish.

Our prepared speech took us on a “flight” ✈️ using humour and clever analogy to explore a meaningful message and leave us reflecting long after the applause.

Table Topics brought the fun 🌹

We had a mock proposal (complete with theatrics!), reflections on magical relationship memories, thoughts on missed romantic opportunities, and heartfelt stories that had us laughing one moment and nodding thoughtfully the next. Even a first-time participant jumped in and absolutely owned it — speaking to the theme with confidence and creativity.

The Grammarian kept us mindful of language and the evaluations were supportive, insightful and growth-focused — exactly what makes our club so special.

Fun. Courage. Connection.

A meeting full of heart and just the right amount of romance. 💫

🚀 What a meeting! GC HUB Toastmasters took flight last Wednesday🚀

With our theme “Soaring to a Great Altitude”, the energy was high and the learning even higher.

✨ Shiike delivered a thoughtful leadership speech that was personal, reflective, and relevant to everyone in the room — and was supported by constructive, growth-focused feedback.

🎤 Steve lifted our skills with a Better Speaker educational session on impromptu speaking, sharing real experiences that made it practical, fun, and instantly useful.

We also loved welcoming a special guest, Okera Amini, Area Director and Incoming Division Director from Papua New Guinea — always a pleasure to have her join us.

👏 Strong evaluations, plenty of laughs, and members stepping up across multiple roles made it another standout meeting.

Curious about GC GCHub Toastmasters? Come along as a guest, bring a friend, and see what Toastmasters is all about!

🎭 Theme for this week: Romance

Creativity was the theme of our first meeting back last Wednesday and our meeting lived up to the theme . Giving those attending the opportunity to be creative . Steve spoke on a creative idea he had of tapping into the knowledge within our Club and giving members the opportunity to grow while supporting others . A true Teamwork effort. We will look forward to Steve’s progress report on this project . Sharon then broke is into Teams for our debate . There were creative answers but we were all impressed by Patrick’s quoting of facts, figures and stats- even the opposition were impressed!! Patrick then gave us the opportunity to think and speak on our feet pitching our answers in a creative yet convincing way. Grammarian Chris had been listening intently and gave us a report on what he felt were the grammatical highs and areas of challenge . Steve took on the role of listening master posing questions of us to see if we had been listening - a fun session . Al as timer kept us and our meeting to time . We meet 11.50am for a 12-1pm meeting on a Wednesday at the Old Mudgeeraba Post Office . We have an action packed meeting if you would like to come along and experience it for yourself we would love to see you at our meeting tomorrow .
