Festival of Small Halls: coming to Austinville on 23rd October

On 23rd October, from 6:30pm, Mt Nimmel Hall will be hosting Canadian singer song-writer Old Man Luedecke, Nicole Murray (Australia) and Gold Coast artist Amy John Roberts as part of the Festival of Small Halls 2026 Spring Tour.

Old Man Luedecke is a two-time JUNO award winning and Polaris prize nominated singer songwriter known for his high energy banjo driven stompers, touching guitar ballads and dry humorous stories. Nicole Murray is a singer and multi-instrumentalist who invites audiences to sing and play together, learning and connecting through harmony, traditional tunes and joyful participation. Amy John Robers combines the ambience of soft rock with the passion and power of great ballads. She can leave you feeling like she knows you better than you know yourself.

The cocktail of Woodford stirred up with Austinville makes for a great vibe and a lovely evening in our old rustic hall.

Fabulous well-loaded gourmet hamburgers will be available, the bar will be open and a sense of good cheer abundant.

This will be the ninth year that Mt Nimmel Hall has participated in the Festival of Small Halls and its always a great occasion.

Come along for a very special evening of live music at Mt Nimmel Hall, with Australian singer-songwriter .music bringing his distinctive brand of Mountain Roots to Austinville.

With a gritty, warm and gutsy voice his sound sits somewhere between folk storytelling, blues grit and Australian roots, with a raw, earthy quality that is completely his own.

Jack has worked his way up from busking in country towns and competing in the Australian Busking Championships to performing at major festivals including Woodford Folk Festival, Gympie Music Muster, Agnes Blues & Roots, Kiama Blues and Tamworth Country Music Festival. He has also shared stages with artists including Joe Camilleri & The Black Sorrows, Kim Churchill, Hatz Fitz & Cara, Riley Pearce and Minnie Marks.

BYO alcohol is welcome as there will be no bar. Tables and chairs will be set up, so settle in, bring your own food and drink and let Jack take you on a musical journey from the mountains to the coast

Mt Nimmel Hall is proud to be hosting musicians Mitch King and Sylvie Millard on 30th May.

MK (Mitch King), is a performing artist and a proud Yaegl & Widjabul Wia-bul man from the Bundjalung nation on the east coast of Australia. His main disciplines are music, theatre, and dancer – he loves telling stories through sound, movement. Most of his work is related to living on country and what it’s like to live in the Northern Rivers – combining cultural and contemporary practices to push his own creative boundaries in order to make space for First Nations communities’ voices and artistry.

Sylvie Millard is a folk musician with heritage from England, Ireland and Scotland via Australia and Turtle Island. After a short career as a lawyer, Sylvie released her first two albums in January. The albums reflect Sylvie’s understanding of law, story, and relationality with Place as a coloniser in a culture that has not arrived in right relation with spirit and country yet. Sylvie is inspired by the work of local Kombumerri and Wakka Wakka Doctor and Adjunct Associate Professor Aunty Mary Graham
