Artwork is arriving, walls are filling, and the space is already coming alive with colour, texture, and community spirit.

Join us for Earth & Community: A Living Canvas, opening tomorrow:

All are welcome to come along, meet local artists, enjoy the exhibition, and celebrate the creativity of our community.

🌿 Opening this weekend: Earth & Community: A Living Canvas 🌿

Launceston Art Society warmly invites you to our Members’ Exhibition, Earth & Community: A Living Canvas, opening this Saturday 20 June 2026 at 11:00am in the newly redeveloped Albert Hall Atrium.

Featuring works by Launceston Art Society artists, the exhibition explores themes of environment, place, community and connection - reflecting on the living world around us and the communities we are part of.

Proudly supported by Quakers Australia - Jane Walker Bequest, the exhibition promotes the values of Simplicity, Peace, Integrity, Care and Community, Equality and Earthcare. Artists have been invited to include one of these values in the title of their artwork, in whichever way best resonates with their work.

Visitors are also invited to take part by voting for the People’s Choice Prize, proudly supported by Choices Flooring. Come along, enjoy the exhibition, and help choose the community favourite.

There is also a special historical connection between the Society and the venue. Launceston Art Society began as the Launceston Drawing Club, holding its first exhibition in November 1891 - the same month Albert Hall opened. More than 130 years later, we’re delighted to continue that story in the renewed Albert Hall Atrium.

…and the winner is
Rachel Howell with her piece “Weindorfers Magic Synergy”.

A popular winner and when we called her just moments ago she was over the moon to have been chosen by the people as their favourite. Rachel said “Please pass on my thanks to the sponsor Anchor Wheel Hotel. It’s wonderful to see local businesses get behind cultural events.”
We couldn’t agree more Rachel.
