A heartfelt thank you to the Shepparton Social Sequence Dance Group who recently donated $640 to our I Care for Cancer Care appeal after raising funds through a raffle.

Anyone who met 46-year-old Numurkah mum-of-four Katie Keys on their oncology ward travels likely remembers her vibrant spirit and unmistakable presence. Every Friday, she would arrive for chemotherapy "frocked up" in style, often accompanied by her ukulele-playing partner, Wayne-o, and her best friend, brightening the day for fellow patients with treats, laughter and good cheer.

“We were the loud, obnoxious crazy kids at chemo every Friday,” Katie said.

But staying “happy” and positive took effort.

“The way we saw it was that if we are going to do this every Friday, we’re going to make it a day out, because we are not focusing on the fact we are doing this because of the cancer,” Katie said.

“Because if we don’t laugh, we are going to cry and we had cried enough about it.”

What an amazing day at Tatura Pedals and Steps over the weekend! It was wonderful to see so many people lacing up their runners, hopping on their bikes and getting behind our I Care for Cancer Care appeal.

All together we raised $55,000 for local cancer care!

A huge thank you to Bega group, to everyone who participated, and to all those who donated and cheered from the sidelines

We can’t wait to do it again next year! 🚴‍♀️🏃☀️🙌

𝗔 𝗛𝗨𝗚𝗘 𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗽 𝘁𝗼𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗱𝘀 𝗮𝗻 𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗴𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗖𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲𝗿 𝗖𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗿𝗲, 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗸𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝘀𝘂𝗽𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁!

Today, the Liberals and Nationals announced a $95 million election commitment to complete the Integrated Cancer Centre at GV Health.

Thank you to everyone whose donations, advocacy and fundraising have made our community’s message clear: We need an Integrated Cancer Centre at Shepparton Hospital!

We congratulate the Liberals and Nationals on this major commitment, and we look forward to hearing from other candidates and parties about how they will support better healthcare facilities here in the Goulburn Valley.

Today’s commitment gives our campaign a huge boost, but we won’t stop until the shovels are in the ground.

Even if government fully funds and delivers the ICC after this year’s election, every dollar raised through our appeal will go towards making it even better, by funding the best equipment and enhancing treatment and recovery spaces that make a real difference for patients.

And just as importantly, our appeal, and your donations, will keep sending the message: Our community needs this important facility.

Thanks to these 2 legends who helped raise funds for the I Care for Cancer Care appeal as part of their ride in the Tatura Pedals and Steps on October 3.

Steve Fairless and Jason Sherlock together with staff from Goulburn Valley Health's oncology department were among the participates at the weekend event run by Bega Cheese. The annual event helps support local community charities and the GV Health Foundation is delighted that they have choose to contribute $50,000 each year for 3 years to GV Health's Integrated Cancer Centre.

GV Health is the only major regional hospital without an Integrated Cancer Centre and this donation together with individual fundraising efforts significantly contribute to our $5M target and help deliver care close to home for local cancer patients.

Perform Projects has pledged $200,000 to support local cancer care! 🙌❤

We're thrilled to announce that Perform Projects has committed the net proceeds from the future sale of a nominated allotment in its Merrigum development to GV Health Foundation's I Care for Cancer Care @ GV Health appeal.

This incredible pledge takes total funds raised and confirmed commitments for the appeal to more than $1.42 million, bringing us one step closer to a purpose-built Integrated Cancer Centre at Shepparton Hospital.

The proposed centre will bring treatment, specialist clinics and wellness services together under one roof, helping more people across the Goulburn Valley access comprehensive cancer care closer to home.
