ANTI-POVERTY WEEK
This week marks 24 years of Anti-Poverty Week in Australia.
The week is designed to draw attention to and focus on positive solutions to end poverty.
FamilyCare "Helping families find solutions" hosted a panel session to talk about the impacts of a family growing up in poverty, and the long-term, intergenerational issues that can emerge.
With one in six children growing up in poverty in Australia, the issue is real, and the impacts can reach far beyond childhood. Poverty can affect a child’s access to education, health and wellbeing, opportunities and the support they need to thrive.
At Greater Shepparton Foundation, we believe that where a child grows up should not determine their future.
Addressing poverty takes more than one organisation or one solution. It takes a community working together, investing in early intervention, supporting families and creating opportunities for every child to reach their potential.
Because every child deserves the chance to thrive, and every family deserves the opportunity to build a brighter future.
