We are breast cancer survivors of various ages from a diverse range of backgrounds, athletic abilities and interests.

Bribie Dragons provide a "face" for breast cancer statistics whilst spreading the message of breast cancer awareness through participation in the wonderful and strenuous sport of dragon boat racing. High on our list of priorities is having fun, trying new things, meeting interesting people and being involved in the challenging physical activity of dragonboating to promoting breast cancer awareness. Our morning paddle had some unexpected reinforcement today.

While out on the water, the Pink Dragons crossed paths with a squad of Army Divers from all over Australia who were in the area on a training exercise.

These absolute gentlemen were only too happy to pause their drills and help us out with our boat.

A massive thank you to the diggers for lending a hand, and for serving our country.

Pink October is almost over, but the message stays the same 365 days a year: Early detection saves lives.

While the pink ribbons might fade from the spotlight at the end of the month, being breast aware is a conversation we need to have all year round. Please take this as your gentle reminder to check yourself, book your screenings, and remind the wonderful women in your life to do the same.

At the Bribie Pink Dragons, we paddle with purpose, strength, and solidarity every single week. The month is ending, but our support for survivors, thrivers, and fighters is forever.

When the weather turns dreary, the Bribie Pink Dragons gather for what truly matters.

Today, some of our amazing paddlers came together at Leonie's house for a beautiful morning tea in aid of Breast Cancer Awareness. It was the perfect reminder of why our crew is so tight-knit - supporting a cause that is so close to all of our hearts.

The only rule? Wear pink! And our wonderful crew definitely understood the assignment.

Thank you to Leonie for hosting, and to everyone who brought their bright smiles, pink outfits, and community spirit to support such a fantastic cause. Together, we make waves both on and off the water.

WE TAMED THE TWEED

This is the incredible moment our Bribie Pink Dragons crossed the finish line at the Three Bridges Long Paddle Challenge. As breast cancer survivors and supporters, we show up, we dig deep, and we get the job done.

PINK DRAGONS TOOK ON THE TWEED.

On the weekend, a full boat of our amazing Bribie Pink Dragons packed up and headed down to Murwillumbah to compete in the grueling Three Bridges Long Paddle on the beautiful Tweed River.

Hosted by the Wollumbin Dragon Boat Club , this event was an absolute test of endurance. We lined up alongside 7 fiercely competitive boats that were all filled with much younger, fitter, and stronger paddlers, making the 20-kilometre course a massive ask for us.

Our paddlers dug deep as we launched from the Murwillumbah Rowing Club and powered up under the Condong Bridge. While we didn't quite make it all the way to the Tumbulgum Bridge turn before being directed to head back, it was a grueling, muscle-burning challenge. Our team showed true Pink Power and incredible grit through every single stroke of this highly demanding race.

A massive thank you to Wollumbin DBC for hosting such a fantastic, well-organised event, the local SES for keeping us safe on the water, and everyone who cheered us on. We are completely exhausted but incredibly proud of our efforts.

We can safely say that our next challenge will be somewhat shorter than 20 km!

WHILE THE CREW WAS AWAY, THE PINK DRAGONS CAME OUT TO PLAY!

While some of our amazing crew members were down south taking on the grueling Three Bridges Race in Murwillumbah, a wonderful group of our paddlers stayed local to support the annual Pink Connection Paddle right here on the passage!

It was an absolutely beautiful morning on the water, organised by our friends at Dragons Abreast Pumicestone and Dragon Boat Pumicestone. The energy was incredible as pink paddlers from all over the region came together for plenty of laughs, great company, and plenty of fun on the water.

To top it all off, the local wildlife came out to join the fun—with the team spotting a pod of dolphins playing alongside the boats!

A massive thank you to our neighbours for hosting such a warm, friendly, and beautifully organized event. The hospitality, catering, and community spirit were second to none.

SHE DID IT!

Huge congratulations to our amazing Julie Lynch, who officially passed her assessment and is now a Level 2 Accredited Sweep!

Julie took on this massive challenge under extremely punishing conditions on the water, proving exactly why she is the ultimate leader at the back of the boat. Your crew is incredibly proud of your skill, focus, and grit, Julie.

This coming Sunday, our amazing Julie Lynch is taking the next step in her sweeping journey by undertaking her Level 2 Accreditation Assessment to become a qualified sweep!

Being a sweep (the person steering at the back of the boat) is one of the most critical roles on the water. A sweep isn't just steering; they are responsible for the absolute safety of the entire crew. They have to master structural commands, maintain boat balance, navigate safely, and make split-second decisions to keep everyone safe and synchronized.

This Sunday is her practical assessment. To help her smash it, the rest of us promise to be on our absolute best behaviour and paddle our absolute hardest so we can secure a fantastic outcome for her. Let's give Julie the steady, powerful boat she deserves.
